I feel like the upbeat slightly happy tune is used because the narrator is trying to convince himself that he is fine with shutting himself out of the world, which is why the last two lines are slower and more depressed because he is remembering the pain of losing loved ones. |

I love this song and the ah ah ah part, but it's kinda ironic that it's about a girl who is throwing her life away while she's young so she'll be stuck on drugs and look sixty-five considering the Rolling Stones made the song. I love them but it's almost autobiographical. |

I searched this song thinking I have no idea what the lyrics mean but somebody is going to say it's about drugs - so when I looked at the comments I wasn't surprised. Honestly, I know that a lot of artists write lyrics about drugs, but not EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. Now that I think about it, it does slightly sound like it could be, but gee, if I was a musician, I wouldn't want to write a song that means something to me and is deep to have everyone go "Oh they must be hyped up on drugs and singing about it." Not all artists are so one-dimensional. I think it's fairly well established that the Stones weren't the cleanest guys, but that doesn't mean that every song is so trivial. Anyhow, now that I'm done ranting, I love this song and I fell in love with it the first time I heard it, so anyone that hasn't go check it out. And yeah, the sax is awesome ;) |

Love this song and I love how he screams the lyrics, even though it kinda scared me at first. Yeah I think its about events and their effects, also on how people and society/media respond to different things. I love the guitar (if it is a guitar, I really wouldn't know, maybe just synthesized?) and I wish it was a more well-known song. I always thought the Japanese parts were weird but now that I listen to it, it does kinda fit in for some reason. It always gives me chills when David Bowie yells shut up at the end ;) |

My gosh, ok I honestly get breathing problems when I hear this song. This is one of the reasons I wish my name was Jean I never really thought about what the song meant I guess I just thought it was about a girl who is beautiful but her face still blends into the crowd but I have no idea what the rest is about. Either way, this is SUCH AN AHHMAZING SONG and could somebody REEEALLY explain the lyrics because I am terrible at understanding lyrics that aren't very straightforward |

Wow yeah this is sad. One comment from four years ago, I'll be surprised if anyone ever sees this but this song is great, you have to start dancing along when it comes on. The lyrics are really weird but they always are aren't they? Anyhow, AWESOME SONG, T. Rex is great. How can no one comment on this, honestly this is eluding me? |
