So most of this song is pretty obvious, the exception being "I loved your friend when I saw his film, he's got a funny face, but I like that 'cause he still looks cool" I think this part means that he is trying to convince himself that he feels sorry for being "the other man," by telling himself that he "loved" him and that he "likes his funny face because it's cool," but he later shows that he can't overcome his feelings for the girl because he tries to fill his shoes. The lyric "If we're gonna do anything we might as well just fuck" is so awesome |

So the chocolate here is some sort of illegal drug; probably pot. It's about a group of friends smoking and running from the cops, or some other authority figure, but I think the point is that they're defying authority figures. He talks about the effects of the "chocolate": "my car smells like chocolate" "my hair smells like chocolate" The "guns hidden under out petticoats" part seems like they are trying to seem innocent to authority. The type of woman who wears a petticoat isn't who you'd expect to be hiding a gun, and they are trying to deceive the cops by seeming like the type of boys you wouldn't expect to be hiding drugs. Great song, great lyrics, great band. |

I think that this song is about a pair of friends who sleep together: she wants to find true love, and he's content with the arrangement, but it causes them to argue. That's the first two verses. The second two verses are harder, but I think they're about the men she's been going on dates with on her search for true love, and he mocks them. The first guy has had a string of odd jobs and is directionless. The second verse is maybe a doctor, considering the part about the MD? The narrator, I guess, is realizing he's in love with his friend who's convinced she needs to find love elsewhere instead of looking for it in him. The narrator grows detached, and she is concerned, but clueless. I'm beat on the part about the brother. |
