That's a great story. Thanks for sharing. I lived in West Texas in the 90's, I remember the long trips back to Dallas and even further east to see family while I was in college. I always had some SATB and went through nursing school obsessed with this album/ tape. I can say that Siouxsie and the Banshees got me through a lot of that. |

All I have to say is she meant that (Siouxsie)!!! She sounds like a powerhouse on the album version....makes you turn it up and knock the knob off. The passion of the lyrics, the genius drumming. My favorite Siouxsie song. |

This song has nothing to do with sex. It is an epic ballad, a rock n roll opera if you will.
The song is so brilliantly written and composed it would take a lifetime to dissect. The Rapture gives and re gives the gift of itself to the listener. I heard it for the first time in 1996 and still can sit in deep thought about its meaning. My personal opinion is that it's about THE RAPTURE, end of times, etc. And that it's not going to be that bad, it can be a beautiful transition. The line "wondering if I dare to say your name, wonderous thoughts embalmed, avow you came" I think she means she's afraid to name God, because there are so many different Gods/ religions etc. She wants to get His name right. And after all Jesus did vow He would return. I could be completely wrong. Only God and Siouxsie Sioux know. |
