"Until you make your unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." --Carl Jung "Remember, be here now." --Ram Dass Ego is a false construct humans have created because we believe it helps us to survive, but most aren't even aware of how it drives us. When you begin to step back, focus on the here and now, and view your 'self' objectively, you can start to deconstruct your ego. When you drop these defenses - this walled cage you have built for yourself - you become vulnerable. You begin to see that there is a void inside that you have been filling up with distractions. You realize that either your ignorance of this has allowed you to become a victim of circumstance, or you have fought the void so mercilessly that you have become a person driven to control. In both cases, you have allowed fear to direct your life. Will you be able to confront this reality? Will you be too afraid, and run back to your safe little cage (your ego)? The past is gone, the future doesn't exist. We only have the present. This very moment is what you have been so afraid of. When you sit with that concept, allow your 'self' to simply be, you might begin to understand that this emptiness isn't so bad after all. It's ok to be vulnerable, to live in this void, to embrace it. It is now, it is everything and nothing at once. This moment is the culmination of all thoughts, emotions, decisions, perceptions, relationships, and experiences throughout time. It is the result of all of life's interactions with the environment and the laws of nature. It is the effect of the cause. All that is, was, and will be is neatly packaged within this tiny point of consciousness, this fleeting frame of time, this existence. Now is as perfect as it can be. Everything is right where it belongs. |

| The Cure – In Between Days Lyrics | 12 years ago |

An immature and narcissistic excuse is given when confronted about an affair: "It's only a love triangle because triangles need three points to exist. So technically, it's only considered cheating because you're a part of the equation." Instead of showing remorse, he egotistically rationalizes his actions to his significant other (subsequently objectifying BOTH women involved). Appalled at his response, she heads for the door, as he childishly eggs her on. Apparently, the "inbetween" girl is out of the picture now too, and it only takes one miserable day of being alone before he's back to his old antics. However, his plan to convince the ex to return is even more insulting: He tells her that the words he chose were wrong -- naively believing it was what he SAID that made her go, not what he DID. He does not regret cheating, and struggles with feigning guilt and remorse for hurting others in the process. Lacking in empathy, only HIS feelings matter -- everyone else is just an object to be manipulated for the sole purpose of assuaging his terrifying fear of abandonment. |

He fell deeply in love with her. She wasn't sure, but he talked her into being more than friends, so she gave it a shot. Still, he always knew she wasn't as into him as he was her, so he protected his heart. In doing so, he ended up screwing her over and acting like a jerk, which in turn made her upset with him and pushed her away. So the relationship ends, but he still loves her. They spend some time apart. He's a mess, and has been drinking the pain away. They meet up to talk, he reminisces, she complains about how he treated her. They consider just being friends again, but for him it's too difficult. He wants to be with her more than anything in the world, but he knows she never really loved him that way. "If you don’t know, honey Honey, then you don’t" How can you be ambivalent a feeling as intense as love? If you feel it you know it. If you don't, you don't. There is no in between. |
