Rooney – Popstars Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is a passionate (if mis-guided) ode to a hatred of pop music. God knows why, life's too short to hate pop music.

Lorde – Ribs Lyrics 11 years ago
"The drink you spilt all over me
'Lover's Spit' left on repeat
My mom and dad let me stay home
It drives you crazy, getting old"

Her mom and dad are away, and so she takes advantage of it by having a party, but doesn't know how she feels about doing so.

"We can talk it so good
We can make it so divine
We can talk it good
How you wish it would be all the time"

She sees all the people talking about their crazy, teen partying lifestyles and how they make it seem so amazing and how they wish they could live all the time.

"This dream isn't feeling sweet
We're reeling through the midnight streets
And I've never felt more alone
It feels so scary, getting old"

Suddenly, the party doesn't seem as fun as it once did, and she realizes how alone she is, and how scared she is of having adult responsibility.

"I want 'em back (I want 'em back)
The minds we had (the minds we had)
How all the thoughts (how all the thoughts)
Moved 'round our heads (moved 'round our heads)
I want 'em back (I want 'em back)
The minds we had (the minds we had)
It's not enough to feel the lack
I want 'em back, I want 'em back, I want 'em"

She wants her childhood and childhood fantasies back, because now that she's grown up a bit she realized what life is really like and she doesn't want to.

"You're the only friend I need
Sharing beds like little kids
Laughing 'til our ribs get tough
But that will never be enough"

This part always hits me. She sees her best, closest friend at the party, and realizes all these people hear mean nothing to her, and that person is the only friend she needs. She also remembers probably having sleepovers with them and sharing the bed with them, laughing so hard "our ribs get tough". But I get the feeling she's fallen in love with said friend since childhood, and the friendship "will never be enough".

Great song.

Rooney – I Don't Wanna Lose You Lyrics 11 years ago
I think it's a song about a couple. the singer has cheated on the other person, and they both want to stay together, but don't know how to fix the problems running rampant in their relationship. by the end of the song ("it's not you, it's not me/it's just something we can't see/I'm giving up, giving in/yeah, I'm gonna let it be") the singer has given up on the relationship, and isn't going to to try and fix it anymore. despite all their problems, he continues to say, "I don't wanna lose".

Really a top-notch song.
