| Imagine Dragons – Bleeding Out Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I get the feeling that this song is about a person who is utterly in love with another... but that person uses them endlessly. Their lover simply takes and never gives. And whenever the person contemplates leaving the unhealthy relationship, their boy/girlfriend convinces them to stay. "I'm bleeding out Said if the last thing that I do" Bleeding out - reminds me of taking a bullet for someone. Essentially the main person/character that this song is about (the MC) is in a relationship where he'd do anything for his significant other. Even bleed out - to death even. Because that would be the last thing he would do. "Is to bring you down I'll bleed out for you" Again, he mentions that he would suffer, and practically die for his significant other. He also states that he would never make the other person suffer and always take the brunt of the consequences. The man has a slightly skewed view on what a proper relationship is. "So I bear my skin And I count my sins And I close my eyes And I take it in" I almost picture someone getting whipped to represent a metaphor. By baring his skin (or back) to get punished. This person gets himself ready to take the pain and suffering. Baring his skin to voluntarily get beat up. By counting his sins, he tries to remember all the things he did to deserve this, justifying his pain. Maybe he thinks he isn't good enough, wasn't nice enough, didn't do enough for his significant other. He closes his eyes to make the pain not seem as bad as it actually is, and takes the pain as best he could. "And I'm bleeding out I'm bleeding out for you (for you)" The man takes the pain for his lover because everything he does is for them. Rather than in a relationship, he's like a faithful servant that is oblivious to his own unhealthy relationship. "When the day has come But I've lost my way around" One day he comes to the realization that his relationship isn't what it once was. His love is different, foreign, and he's lost as to what happened to their relationship. He's utterly dependent on his lover although he is constantly being used. "And the seasons stop and hide beneath the ground When the sky turns gray And everything is screaming I will reach inside Just to find my heart is beating" Basically, he beings to stop noticing his surroundings and time passes, the seasons pass but he doesn't notice. He is too caught up in his unhealthy relationship. The sky is gray, and it's almost like he is depressed, but he doesn't realize it. His entire being is screaming because he is suffering but he continues to ignore it. He continues to believe that he is in a healthy relationship and that he would do anything for his lover. That's why he reaches deep inside of himself to remind himself why he loves his lover. "You tell me to hold on Oh you tell me to hold on" After his bouts of negative contemplation (gray skies and screaming), there are moments of clarity. Where he considers ending his relationship. But whenever he brings up the topic, his lover convinces him to stay in the relationship. To 'hold on' to what they have. "But innocence is gone And what was right is wrong" His argument is that their innocent relationship has been long gone. That they once had a healthy relationship that was right... Until she took advantage of it and made it poisonous. "'Cause I'm bleeding out Said if the last thing that I do Is to bring you down" He manages to be convinced that he should stay in the relationship. He states that he's hurting really bad but he did promise that he would never hurt his lover- so he agrees to stay in the relationship. His lover manages to guilt trip him to stay. "I'll bleed out for you So I bear my skin And I count my sins And I close my eyes And I take it in And I'm bleeding out I'm bleeding out for you (for you)" And the cycle continues. He sacrifices his well being and practically living as a servant to his lover. "When the hour is nigh And hopelessness is sinking in" Sometimes at night he stays up and realizes the endless cycle of his suffering and stupidity for staying in the relationship. "And the wolves all cry To feel they're not worth hollering" This reminds me of Call of the Wild. The freedom from imprisonment. But he has a fear of loneliness, and he isn't sure if freedom is worth it. OR- wolves could reference to the fact that he may leave the relationship, but who is to know that he won't enter another abusive relationship? "When your eyes are red And emptiness is all you know" His eyes are red, from crying or from his suffering. He is used to the emptiness of loving but never being loved in return. "With the darkness fed I will be your scarecrow" He's empty, without a heart. And he is willing to work. A scarecrow scares away crows and birds from the crops all day and night. Essentially, it serves as a metaphor to explain although he's is empty on the inside and full of darkness, he will continue to do things for the sake of his lover. "You tell me to hold on Oh you tell me to hold on" Once again, his lover's argument for convincing him to stay. "But innocence is gone And what was right is wrong" Once again his argument for leaving. "'Cause I'm bleeding out Said if the last thing that I do Is to bring you down I'll bleed out for you" But then he remembers his promise to never hurt his lover and he gives up on his argument to leave and decides to stay. "So I bear my skin And I count my sins And I close my eyes And I take it in And I'm bleeding out I'm bleeding out for you (for you)" The suffering continues. "I'm bleeding out for you (for you) I'm bleeding out for you (for you) I'm bleeding out for you (for you) I'm bleeding out for you" The cycle never ends. He always bleeds out - he endures the pain. And not for anyone but his lover. "'Cause I'm bleeding out Said if the last thing that I do Is to bring you down I'll bleed out for you So I bear my skin And I count my sins And I close my eyes And I take it in And I'm bleeding out I'm bleeding out for you (for you)" Like a broken record he continues to endure his relationship. He is enslaved to it and he can never leave, no matter how much he tries because it is his own promise to never leave, to never hurt, and to always stay. |

| Imagine Dragons – It's Time Lyrics | 8 years ago |

For some reason, every time I hear this song it reminds me of college. "So this is what you meant When you said that you were spent" This person is listening to advice from older people or older friends. "And now it's time to build from the bottom of the pit, right to the top Don't hold back Packing my bags and giving the Academy a rain check" Once you graduate high school you start over in college. And you need to leave no regrets... And let's not forget you have to pay up too. "I don't ever want to let you down I don't ever want to leave this town" The person doesn't want to let the people who support him/her down. The person also doesn't want to leave - in my opinion- because everything they have ever known is in the town (home). "Cause after all This city never sleeps at night" This could be referring to the fact that in college, late nights happen because of studying or partying. Or also the late nights staying up and thinking about life in general and what the future holds. "It's time to begin, isn't it? I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit" Admitting that this is a new era in one's life. That it's time to begin living the life of adulthood where consequences directly affect your future. The person 'changes' into a different person, becoming confident (perhaps cocky) in the college life. But in reality they admit that although they act differently in the new environment they never changed as a person but changed their persona. "I'm just the same as I was Now don't you understand I'm never changing who I am" The person has changed themselves to live the college life, and no one understands why they don't change genuinely or why they are faking it. The person admits that they won't change as tempting as it is. "So this is where you fell And I am left to sell" At this point in their college career, the person has reached the point where many people have dropped out. And the person is struggling to continue their education. "The path to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell right to the top Don't look back Turning to rags and giving the commodities a rain check" The person says that they have to sacrifice their comfort for the sake of the future - which means they have to struggle. No pain no gain. No regrets. "This road never looked so lonely This house doesn't burn down slowly To ashes To ashes" In college, the person is all alone. His/her new friends are practically strangers and if she/he screws up (the house) it'll be a slow burn to failure. So essentially, in summary: A college student struggles with the reality of continuing their education, surviving without family/friends from home, and their mental health. |

| For some reason, this song reminds me of "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin. | |
| AURORA – Conqueror Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I feel like this song is about the girl whose life is completely falling apart. Even the term "open ground" refers to the entire world coming to an end. The girl is trying to look for a hero, a conqueror, but they "never seem to come my way." She's looking for the perfect someone to save the world, yet she realizes that everyone is broken. No one is perfect. "Broken me and broken them and You are broken, too Open ears, their eyes are open Makes me call for you" The hero she sought for, she finally found but they are broken too. She experiences a disillusionment, in the fact that none of the heroes she was looking for even exist, and they are all figments of fantasy. She then becomes empowered. If she cannot find a hero, she will become a hero for herself. She realizes that anyone can be a hero, and that is when she finally comes alive. |

| AURORA – Black Water Lilies Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
I picture this song as a story in a fictional location: Two children are on this boat. The perspective of the main character is a particularly small child. Their boat is on a ocean with lilies floating on the surface. Both marvel at the beauty while in the safety of their small boat. All of a sudden the small child falls, while the other tries to catch her, the girl trying to reach for her companion as well but ultimately failing. As she splashes into the water, she tries once again to reach for her companion only to get a fistful of the lilies that were floating on the surface. Unfortunately, the girl (at least what I picture) falls into the water and the other child is unable to do anything since they both cannot swim. As the girl falls into the depths of the ocean as she drowns, she continues to marvel at the lilies that now appear to be black due to the shadow cast by the sun. Her arms are extended out as she sinks, but in one hand, there is the one lily she managed to grasp from the surface. I picture a girl floating slowly and silently to the bottom of the ocean floor, without panic but a rather serene look in her face. The song depicts her having a flashback of the entire situation that had just occurred. |

| I love this song. The tune is catchy and I feel tells a story about nature. I also love it because it describes animals with a conscious instead of just "things." | |

I think this song is about a person who has this view of the world and no one is truly listening. Here's my interpretation: "Everything you say is just a lie And now I'm leaving to the city Where the people are awake" Everything this person is told isn't true and now he realizes everything. Whether it's conspiracy or brutality of people, he's decided he's had enough. "To chase a dream that isn't real And we 'posed to be somethin' that we're not Just wanna change a lot And sign our name after the dot" He thinks that people are following dreams that won't come true. These dreams could be becoming famous or successful. But he thinks in order to get contracts, "signing after the dot," people have to be something their not. Like the quote "nice guys finish last" this person thinks that people must change to be successful. "Everything you see Is just a century of anarchy All my corresponding colors That symbolize the things We can attest, arrange We can assess, we can attain We are the intrical entities To entice and entertain" This I think basically says that he knows that everything is wrong in the world and that what ever you do and wear will affect you. He says that you can do things to be important, rich and famous but he says that in reality we are all alone to bribe and entertain others to get higher up. We all cheat to become powerful. All eyes They're on you Don't deny You've got to This is a call That's all You'll ever get from me This is a call That's all You'll ever get from me He says that he wants nothing to do with anything. He knows people are watching him. He doesn't want to be like them but tells them that he knows what their doing and that it's wrong. All eyes are on him because he isn't doing what they want him to do. Take my side Take my side Don't look back Now I'm easy And that's a fact And you're on my mind, oh He tells them to follow him. All eyes are on him since he's doing his own thing but he's trying to make a change. Now will the sun come up tonight? Because your eyes they burn so bright I'm all you've got When you say That you want it all You want it all Now this guy is wondering if there is any hope at all. He thinks everyone can change and that he can help them but they want more and won't want any of his help. They want more power so they won't change. So quick summary: A person realizes that the world is a lie and that he wants to go leave. He goes to a place where everyone is chasing a helpless dream by lying. Everyone notices him since they know he knows that they are all lying. He tries to help but they don't listen. So all in all, a person who is a good person is trying to help the bad change. The bad don't like him and stay bad since they want more. |

| Imagine Dragons – Who We Are Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I don't know, I think this song talks about someone who's being looked up to... they hears talks about people who are jealous and all that. They know they aren't liked or welcome but they are only used. The song I think talks about how no matter what the said person does to please the other people, they think their crazy. The said person then realizes its 'who they are' like the song and they know that they aren't welcome or liked but its not their problem since its their own unique personality. | |
