I think Mathos22 has got a good bit of it. However, there are several indicators that this is specifically about the celebrity of children and the sexualization of these child stars - the Jonas generation, the "girl I know", the "parents smoking cigarettes" (post-coital?). This song and its lyrics sound like an indictment of the culture that conditions children to rate their value by their desirability to others, then judges these same people when they express their sexuality, as in "the Jonas generation's got rings wrapped 'round their dicks / the whole world waits with patience for one of them boys to slip." It also points out how quickly one can go from the audience, safely and anonymously judging and exploiting others, to the person shunted to the spotlight. There also seems to be a reference to the nasty habit of revenge porn, where the person who bears the brunt of the shame is not the transgressor (ie the person who violated another's trust by uploading or distributing privately shared images or videos) but the victim (whose only explicit crime often is only expressing their sexuality). The lines "it was gonna leak eventually so eventually it did", "be careful what you're looking at because it might be looking back" indicate this. |

Actually, I think that the line "try to feel a trembling fetal life inside" is referring to her hoping (vainly) that she may be pregnant, since pregnant women traditionally are not executed. I also read it as her trying to convince herself that her execution could be her rebirth. |
