I hear "all these other floors will lead to mine" having 2 floors and one mezzanine, it make sense. I feel its like a reverence to the state in between being single of having a partner. Not ready for a commitment but sick of being single all the options will lead to this (floor) |

| kinda like a guy how seeks ladies to fill ups his empty ness but only gets cheap and hollow one-night-stands. And although he knows better he does not want to wake up from this delusion. (dream on) | |

I cant help t think about spiritual side of this great sad song. I'm trying a more symbolic theory I think there both the same person Its like the guy is sick of life that has lost its glory for him (sober tea). And its just al around him but he does not take part of the life that buzzing all around him. So he closed his eyes and he tries to still his mind (sky wide open) but lust comes up and he feels bad about it. but somewhere deeper in him, he can distance himself from that and accept it for what it is (far away) Without judgement and he is ready to express it (ready to sing/ six sense on my breath). He wakes up from his meditation/trance and listening. And by that he lost the way he had just envisioned. (The key swing from my hand.) He knows he cant take that bit of magic he found back in to reality. He basic senses are conflicting. so he banes the thoughts and trains in more discipline (martial arts is body and mind) But it hints also to commercial side of it. Making his determination almost sarcastic and more a farce. (As advertised) Trying to supress his lust maybe. (reinforcing softened parts) Like everyone would expect that of him (As advertised) See trough me, he asked him self in relation to the easy commercial road he is about to take. An inner world of faith he found is not that . Accepting the truth in that thought. He becomes ready to express that too. Then comes (flickering I roam). I associate that with a flickering candle flame, being in doubt to keep on burning of being put out. so I think het roams in doubt. that is the most powerful line I think in the hole song text. The next view parts are more of the same. Het get more confused, more meditation and more roaming. He sees the options, the opportunity and the impossible (locks the keys and the bolts.) And there is no danger for he is free to roam with in the limits of what other expect of him. (dummy screens/ magazines) So he meditates again. and considers what it would be like, giving in. And realize he would not make a big difference. Still a simple job, no illusions on life. (sober tea) until the day I die (daylight send me home) in doubt I will roam. (flickering I roam) this is where the music changes and starts of with something like a train horn. and with the changing of the rhythm I think it symbolizes the journey that life put him trough. Daydreaming, Loving (admiring), human become still and open op your world. Know that the darkest moment of your life is where the turning point will be. See through the easy paths and see with in you own heart. |
