Am I the only one who feels like the song has something to do with self-harm? "I hurt myself again, Along with all my friends" Here it's kind of blatant, the idea of hurting yourself, and when your friends find out they feel guilty because they feel like they had something to do with it, and they feel like they failed in some way because they couldn't stop it. "Feels like it never ends, Here comes the night again..." The idea that once you start it's very hard to stop because of the sense of control that it gives you, but you still feel ashamed and embarrassed and inadequate ("here comes the night") knowing that you hurt yourself and thinking of how people close to you who want to help you will feel. "Here comes the night" might also suggest that you often do it when no one else is awake so no one will notice. I might see it this way because I have struggled with self-harm in the past, and so have some of my friends, and just those four lines kind of explain it all. I am probably wrong, but that's just what immediately comes to my mind when i hear this song. |
