The Clash – Tommy Gun Lyrics 4 years ago
@[aparatchik:36997] This ain't it. Co-opting The Clash to support the horror of Zionism is f**ked up.

The mercenary "lighting the fuse" in Palestine is a hired gun working for the Zionists. Most likely not caring what 'cause' he is killing for. Killing for the money and perhaps fleeting glory in the complicit press.

Ariel Sharon "lit the fuse" for the second Intifada at Al-Aqsa mosque. Netanyahu lit the fuse for the current war crimes in Gaza at Al-Aqsa mosque. Both looking to further their political careers and stay out of jail. The entire IDF is made up of amoral killing bastards, this song could be about anyone of them.

"I see all the innocents, the human sacrifice..." Free Palestine!

I appreciate your perspective Kman, but I think you should read the lyrics a little more carefully. Rupert Murdoch and most world leaders seem to think that supporting White Jewish Supremacists is PC, but I doubt that Joe Strummer ever did!

I think this song talks about several manifestations of conflict including mercenaries - euphemistically known as "security contractors" or "private military contractors" these days. 'Kings an' queens an' generals learn your name'... that's because they are the ones paying these filthy bastards to kill.

I agree with the comments that this song is sympathetic to Palestine. 'Lighting the fuse' to incite conflict and enable brutal 'retaliation' is a standard Israeli strategy. Ariel Sharon knew this when he visited the Temple Mount in 2000, provoking Palestinians and kicking off the second intifada.

I think Tommy Gun is a dirt bag mercenary/soldier/terrorist. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference.
