I think this song talks about several manifestations of conflict including mercenaries - euphemistically known as "security contractors" or "private military contractors" these days. 'Kings an' queens an' generals learn your name'... that's because they are the ones paying these filthy bastards to kill. I agree with the comments that this song is sympathetic to Palestine. 'Lighting the fuse' to incite conflict and enable brutal 'retaliation' is a standard Israeli strategy. Ariel Sharon knew this when he visited the Temple Mount in 2000, provoking Palestinians and kicking off the second intifada. I think Tommy Gun is a dirt bag mercenary/soldier/terrorist. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference. |
