Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Southern Cross Lyrics 12 years ago
"Just like the Bible itself- a person can interpret the true meaning right out of it! " Such a profound statement! It exemplifies how people pick & choose whatever verse or line out of the bible they hope will justify their actions, when in reality, it's all just gibberish. Anything that needs to be, or is open to, "interpretation", is open to MIS-interpretation. Do you really want to base your whole value system on something so ambiguous?

O.K., so yeah - the basic theme is pretty obvious; just another boring "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boo-hoo, blah, blah" story. (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the song - I'm just tired of all the blasted love songs floating around out there. [Get it? - floating? boat? Ah, forget it!] )
In any case, I'm more interested in the meaning of the actual WORDS - the sailor jargon; "sailing a reach", "off the wind", "eighty feet of the waterline", etc.. HUH?

Sounds to me like Mr. Stills was being a tiny bit of a tremendous DICK! He had to know when he wrote and / or recorded the song that this comment would come up repeatedly, and it's not his fans' fault the line became so famous. And, by the way, why DIDN'T he name it "Music" ( Or at least something music-related. )
