The song is based on the Salem witch trails, where cases of accused witchcraft led to the execution of dozens of innocent colonial Americans, when Christianity and law were one. Whether or not this is allegory to some modern persecution, the premise comes from that. Hopefully every kid in high school in the United States already knows this. |
