I always thought this song was about ghost. Let me explain: "What's between you and me. Look right through me" I think that means the barrier to the other side. You can't see ghost right? "I won't let it go. I can't help this feeling anymore" If you look into the second verse which I will explain in detail. There is strong evidence he got this girl to die in some way. This line may be implying his plotting to bring her to the other side with him because he can't hold his feelings back from her. And he won't let her ignore him. "We are the monsters....believe what you read.......we are the voices inside your head believe what you see" This is one that may make more sense in the theory. There have been a lot of story about ghost and big sharp-thoothed monsters under your bed. "Believe what you read" And in the middle of the night you know you've seen a few crazy illusions here or there. "Believe what you see" Implying those illusions are actually there and ghostly or monsterly. This may also refer to the metaphor "I can't believe my eyes" Saying yes you should belive your eyes. I'm right here. "It came as no surprise you bring me back to life" Well It's clear he is talking to some sort of partner or lover. Seeing as a line like that is normally taken as a love declaration of drawing strength from your significant other. But I think you bring me back to life is supposed to be taken a bit more literal since the earlier lyrics have implied being dead and monstrous. "you bleed for me I'll bleed for you" This could mean a number of things. It could either be a deceleration, a request for suicide, or a threat for battle. I think the second one makes the most sense because later lyrics imply the girl he is talking to is dead. "I caught you walking through walls" As I just said: This implies the girl is dead. Most likely he convinced her to commit suicide and he found her dead or a ghost. Ghost walk through walls. But the whole suicide thing is just a hunch. Mainly she is dead, that I'm certain. "Drowning applause from the world that makes me crazy" This is where you can argue the song is about hollywood. But I don't see any other lyrics that have to do with hollywood. Not that there aren't any I just don't see them right away. Anyway, the world that makes me crazy seems a lot like a suggestion of the other side to me. huh..... So basically I think this song is about being a ghost and being the monster that hides in closets or under beds that everyone tells in bedtime stories and horrer novels. Also the voice that you hear in the beck of your head telling you really sinful things? yeah. Then convincing your lover to die and be with you on the other side. Idk that's my evaluation. heh |
