I think this song might be about taking crystal meth... High dive into frozen waves Where the past comes back to life - When addicted to methamphetamine and you try to come clean you constantly think about 'pleasurable' past experiences, often while being high on the drug. Frozen waves = frozen water = ice Fight fear for the selfish pain It was worth it every time- When you take it you know its bad, deep down your terrified from things you've heard about it and seen in the media, but after you take it everything feels alright. Hold still right before we crash Cause we both know how this ends You know whats going to happen, you know what the comedown will be like Our clock ticks till it breaks your glass And I drown in you again Time moves differently when your high on amphetamine, breaking glass could refer to breaking up the crystals, or because pipes are made of glass. Drown in you could refer to passing out after coming down/after the high is over or mellowing in the intense pleasure of being high Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need Chasing relentlessly Still fight and I don't know why- Ice addiction can become part of someones very personality, nobody wants to need something like that, your always looking to get on it however you can, you don't know why you don't just give up trying to fight it because you want it so much. If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity- The addiction is tragic, but getting back on makes it all feel better. Spending so much money and time and losing so much to the addiction is insane, but when your on it everything feels totally clear, your mind feels sharp as a razor and you feel in control Walk on through a red parade And refuse to make amends It cuts deep through our ground And makes us forget all common sense Don't speak as I try to leave Cause we both know what we'll choose If you pull, then I'll push too deep And I'll fall right back to you- Trying to come clean off the drug knowing its all but a lost cause This interpretation of the song makes a lot of sense to me, knowing the effects of ice`. I would actually be very surprised if this song didn't wasn't a reference to addiction. Not to mention the film clip full of what appear to be exploding crystals, etc. |
