Christina Perri wrote this song for the To Write Love On Her Arms shows. It's a non-profit organization which aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self injury, and thoughts of suicide while also investing directly into treatment and recovery.
So this song is for the people of that organization with Christina basically saying I believe you can get through it, I know what its like, I've been there before, but I'm alive. It's not the end, its the beginning so keep holding on because things will get better. |

To me this song is about people who've lived their lives the ideal way society has planned them to and them not being happy. This idea of how their life is suppose to be has driven people to being immoral. In the song it talks about how the world around is falling apart and bringing darkness into people's lives. The chorus of the song is talking about taking a step back from the world to remember how life really is, the way it use to be, questioning how you can look on the bright side of things. Then the bridge asks how can we fix things and face our sins to repair our lives.
So yeah that's my opinion :) |
