This is my favorite CranBs song...feels like romantisized love lost and wanting w all the torch bearing stuff...discalsed suffering w a dash of Irish Catholicness...probably would be even better (if possible) if all or part of this song were sung by D O'R in Gaelic...but the thing I like most about this song is the rippin lead that Noel lays down (starts about 2:14 and then is just huge after that...great structure and composition),,,it sounds like a dirty ole Strat...anybody know for sure? |

Love this song and the band ! These people are seriously talented. I wonder if this song has any reference to adoption. Specifically the adoption of an older child...perhaps even from a foreign country, For some reason, the idea of clinging to a photograph of yourself or possibly parents who might have given you up for adoption and the endless hoping and waiting for "My Mum and Dad" ....or as the 6 year old little girl from Russia said to her adoptive parents ("what took you so long to find me....I have been waiting for you" as she jumped in to the arms of her adoptive parents and wept w joy). I hope Mr Putin reconsiders his ban on US adoption (sorry about the shameless plug). |

Dear Alex284, I have always thought that this song was a direct reference to St Paul. Do you think it might be possible that in all of the Morrissey nuances and innuendo that Steven Patrick might actually be sharing genuine spiritual admiration for the Apostle Paul...how clever would that be....do you any one would ever believe him? |

Love the Smiths. I really think that Morrissey was referring to the Apostle Paul in this song (check out 2 Corinthians 12:7-9) and work your way through the rest of the writings of St Paul. I see a lot of spirituality in Steven Patrick's work. |
