| The Meg And Dia Band – Roses Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This song reminds me of Valentine's Day and how most girls are like "Yay, Valentine's Day is here!" and they celebrate and decorate and are looking forward to romance and all that cute stuff, but all the dudes in the relationships care about is the fact that they're probably gonna be "gettin' some" on Valentine's Day. I picture the girl in the song hating Valentine's day, being in public, seeing all this Valentine's Day stuff everywhere, and just being like "Ew, grody" about it outwardly, but secretly, she wishes her boyfriend would be all romantic with her and all that, because she's in a relationship, but the dude is not really that invested in it anymore, if he ever was. They just have sex and get high, I guess. "Pain is foreign to us".. when you're in love, you also experience the pain of being in love when you're in a serious relationship, but they're not. "Was it something I did wrong?", she's asking if she did something wrong to make him not interested in her anymore. "You don't even know me"/"You won't even know I'm gone"; I feel like it's saying that they're strangers in the relationship, and he wouldn't even notice if she left him. | |

I think this is about her parents, honestly. "Damn you for letting me sleep until noon", "Damn you for trusting me", "Damn you for accepting my immaturity", "Damn you for keeping quiet when I lie to you", To me, she's saying "Why did you not care enough to correct me?" Like, some parents never correct their kids, and it's not so bad while they're still kids, but when the kids grow up and no one's ever corrected them, the 'kid' (or, older person now) is screwed up. They have no idea what to do with themselves because no one has ever said to them "No, this isn't right.. you're supposed to do this, not that". It's almost as if she's looking back and seeing that her parents just let her fall into a self-destructive pattern and didn't really try to pull her out of it. Maybe she's trying to fix herself and realizing why she's so messed up as an older person? |

| It's about a past relationship with someone who treated her like crap, basically. And, at the time, she didn't realize how messed up the situation was, but now that she's looking back, she sees it clearly. They were cheating on her and she knew it. | |

I think it's about a relationship between two people, the singer and her lover. The singer was too shy or not interested to love anyone until she met this other person, but the other person had trust issues because they'd been hurt so many times. I feel like the singer was patient and waited for this person to be ready for her and trust her. It was a long wait, but it was worth it. It's like the trials and mistakes and pain bonded them and made their relationship that much stronger and gave them a special connection and now they're inseparable. This is such a sweet song, I absolutely adore it.<3 |
