| To me, this song is about being rejected a lot (not just by guys, but by people in general) and how the lonely (depression) can sink in. The pre chorus is about how she'll never be the same and how she wishes she could be the girl she used to be. The chorus is about how the one person who might truly love her left and she's not sure how to cope with it. It's also saying that she's letting depression sink in again. The bridge is about how she's had a tough life (a barely breathing story) and how she's left alone now. | |

This song can be about someone dealing with depression. When they say, "When you feel my heat, look into my eyes. It's where my demons hide." they could mean that even though they wear a fake smile and seem okay, they're actually not. "Don't get too close; it's dark inside." could mean that they don't want the person they love to be burdened with their sorrows. "So they dug your grave." -maybe they let the person to get too involved and now all of the people that bother the singer are now bothering the person they love. "And the masquerade will come calling out at the mess you've made." - they think that everyone's just the same (cruel and terrible) and that they'll do the same to the other person that they have to them. "They say it's what you make, I say it's up to fate." - everyone says that you are only miserable because of your actions, but the person says that it's just fate that their life isn't so well. "It's woven in my soul." - they believe that their depression is woven in so deep. "Your eyes they shine so bright, I wanna save that light." - the person they love is so happy, and the singer doesn't want to ruin that. "I can't escape this now, unless you show me how." - they think that there is no escaping depression unless the person helps them see the better side of life. Keep in mind that songs can mean what you want them to mean! (my only pet peeve is when someone automatically thinks a song is about sex) |
