I think it is we are men and we are prime. And the song IMO is about the battle between a man and his surroundings. It's called The Joust after all and it basically means that we as me are warriors and we should fight for something. In the darkening shadows of every deep battle stands a man, behind all ideals wars are fought by men. Not to say the song is specifically about war but about the battles we choose for ourselves. |

I believe this song is about longing for a woman that you can't be with. The line he is saying you have to stop being focus on how hard today is and look toward tomorrow otherwise you'll only drown in your sorrow. "Tell me what you're fighting for" is a calling to remember that your priorities lie with yourself. This has been one of my favorite bands for the last 4 years, too bad they split. I actually have a vinyl of, IMO their Magnum Opus, Duck and Cover, you can order it at Angry Young and Poor if anyone is interested. |
