The singer is smitten with a girl he's been seeing. He thinks Lisa'a so beautiful that she's out of his league(It's like she's not even a human being), but he understands her(nobody has you down but me), so that's how he believes they work. He does such a cool thing with the lyrics when he says,"I behold the beauty, but the beauty gotta hold on me" What he's saying here is that he'd only admire her looks and have her fall in love with her, as per usual, but he's fallen in love with her, When he says "I've been singin' oooooooh" he either means he's been so lovestruck by Lisa that he;s been sighing at how beautiful she is and how lucky he is, or he means that they have sex a lot and it's part of the reason he's so infatuated with her. So, basically, he's in love with Lisa, an amazing girl, and he can't believe it. |

This song is definitely one of Motion city's best. I recently broke up with a boyfriend who was, well, an endearing asshole, so I can totally relate. The singer is talking about how he enjoys testing his girlfriend's limits(Have you had enough? Are you tough? Are you broken?) (Hit me where it hurts, don't just curtsy and sulk) He antagonizes her to get a rise from her. He does this because he is either bored with her or sadistic. He knows he can get away with it because she's a pushover. He can do a 360 in character when she gets upset and all is forgiven.(When I listen to your voice, squawking noise, I am thinking how to count 'em back with some nonsense and stink, I seal it) When they began a relationship, the girl was hesitant because she didn't really like him, but he "wore her down with his slapstick and passion" She's beginning to get tired his "itty-butty quirks" He insists they can still work and be "romantic" because he'd swim the atlantic for her, and he's get over his drug addiction and her shitty taste in movies. He loves her, despite being a total knob most times. |
