A Great Big Pile Of Leaves – Snack Attack Lyrics 9 years ago
This sounds like a relationship that is going poorly. For anyone who has had a long term relationship go south, you know the feeling of the narrator in this song.

"You never deliver"
"I still need you to follow through"

You can literally see someone fighting with their significant other asking them to be more available or try to find some sort of common ground. I think the next set of lyrics adds more background to the problems that's happening in the relationship

You never want me to do anything
And when I'm in the mood I think you're pretty rude
When I'm full of energy you don't see me
I'm trying to be serious and you're just laughing

I can see the couple fighting again. This could be a simple interpretation of a person who wants to leave the house and go do things while their partner might be a couch potato and not wanting to do anything.

There can also be some really deep meanings here. You can interpret this as the narrator wanting to do something that's more like a life goal and being ridiculed for it. You can somewhat reflect it on a sexless relationship if you put together the entire song that makes more sense. The basic meaning is that you can add whatever individual situation to it, but you have someone who wants something they aren't getting.

The last verse is saying simply that when they leave the relationship then that person is willing to give 150% to be back in the relationship.

I still feel like there's a sexual connotation to it disguised in a well crafted song that has a positive tempo to it. "Late at night you and I never work out quite right" kind of points me towards that.

I think you can reflect on the line "I don't know where you go late at night." as a way of saying the person shut down or they physically are leaving. The line prior about listening kind of makes me think its the person is shutting down in the conversations.

Anyway, I think its a great song that can be purely about the relationship or about their sexual life. Its fun to play too.

Cold – Gone Away Lyrics 10 years ago
The song tends to define how someone feels in a variety of relationships.

There's speculation (as in I can't find the source outside of SongFacts that this song was wrote about his daughter. If you're a parent and you read these words you could apply this to your child easily.

You could also apply this to being terribly in love, terribly broken hearted or in the midst of a one way relationship. I've found myself going to this song several times in my life, always in different places and find it to have different meanings.

While we may never know the exact feelings and meanings behind it, we have to appreciate that a song takes a lyrical structure and creates an extreme emotional response among many people in different situations.

Bright Eyes – From a Balance Beam Lyrics 10 years ago
The first part of the song does have a lot of modern Christian imagery which makes me think of the time that I became aware that human interpretation of spiritual entities might be skewed. The man with the megaphone, how they claimed to see angels, the angel being hurt and the conclusion that things were a miracle and then finally leading to him looking at his wrist. This moment makes me believe the contemplation of suicide or life's end at least is envisioned here. There's more imagery of death on a grand scale with the sun being a carcass as well.

The next part of the song continues to parallel religious imagery with death. He continues to speak of how helpless he is and how imprisoned he is. I feel like this is a continued trip into religion and then discovering that the new person who should be "Godly" might also be the same person you were. The guard opening the cell and stating you are free, you are free, you are freezing might be another image of death as our bodies lose heat when we die. Some modern religions believe you're free upon death as well.

The final statements are still surrounding the idea of the entire world being destroyed. An apocalypse and possibly one of religious proportion.

The entirety of the song seems to be a personal journey through the steps of religion from beginning to death while the world is collapsing and possibly dying as well.

In the end we know nothing and we leave to nothing. We won't have to worry no more.

Radical Face – Wrapped in Piano Strings Lyrics 12 years ago
He says on a youtube video from 2012 that the song is about a husband who kills himself. Now he's stuck in the house and has to watch his wife move on with her life.

I agree, its a brilliant song of loss and has this mix of some sort of life after death no matter how sad it feels time moves on.
