Well, I'm not the best at interpreting his songs, but in this one I kind of feel that he's being sarcastic about some girl that is hung up on him. She thinks he is a lover for small things that don't even mean that much. She's building a story in her mind, idealizing him, so he decides to play around and do the same, but in his way. About Barcelona or Madrid I think there's something to do with the Bob Dylan song, where he says (summing up) that fine things come from these places. So Kristian might be saying that he is not that fine gentleman from Barcelona or Madrid, he's a guy from the North Pole (or Noth Folk) that can mess up any girl, definitely no lover material. He keeps playing around about the fact that this girl is seeing him as something he is not. So if she can change him (reinventing his name, redirecting his day), he wants to participate on the story making and he wishes to be the King of Spain, sarcasm. He keeps joking around with Spain, talking about Pamplona and the bulls (this part I couldn't find much more sense to be honest). He's charming the Spanish girls and she gets really jealous (from the tipe of girl she appears to be, there's no surprise she is crazy jealous) and gets drunks and goes after a knife for her revenge. He talks about boots of spanish leather, which is at the end of Dylan's song and it's something that he wishes that his true love would send to him. So, back in Kristian's song, it could be something that the girl gave him, and he is teasing her, wearing the boots and tightening his crown, dancing around, not even giving a crap about her. And then he says that she is stabbing his illusion. She's the one who started it, but he took it to a place that she wasn't happy about it. Just like in reality, he ended up not being the man that she wanted him to be. Again he jokes about it, if she could turn him into a lover, he could built an unreal story too, where he could be anything. |
