I agree with the story about the resurrection of Lazarus.
Going on about this story, I would like to add that the line 'follow me down, to the valley below' refers to Lazarus first having to die to be resurrected by Jesus. Also, the 'David' in this story first has to die in some way, before he can enter the better life, for example by leaving his parents or the town where he grew up.
The line about the twenties might refer to young adulthood; after being a shitty teenager who barely can see a pale moon through the fog, in the twenties one can see the 'golden sun'.
