| It sounds a lot like it was his mother that died. "There's some blood around her." The next couple lines are him trying to calm himself in denial of his mothers grave situation. The lines "Hold my brother's hand/And I'm his mothers stand-in" further exemplify this. He is now the mother figure for his little brother after her death. He realizes this, and begins to panic, as he realizes that he is unable to fill her shoes. | |
