Gnarls Barkley – Crazy Lyrics 11 years ago
The singer is justifying a time he became sick mentally. He sees it as a natural stage of his growth and reminisces upon it as an escape from reality and society, which is crazy in it's own way. From the outside people are judging him and saying he's not right in the head, but who are they to judge? It's a growing pain he went through and he knows in his heart that others would be "crazy" if they lived the same life.

My Chemical Romance – The End. Lyrics 11 years ago
This song expresses the views of a young man who has just committed suicide...

In the first paragraph he welcomes everyone to his funeral and doesn't see the point in all of the formalities - they disguise the reality of what's happened. I think he committed suicide because he was so different from everybody else. When he was growing up he felt normal and he wanted all of the same things as everyone else but later he discovered he never measured up: 'You might wake up and notice you're someone you're not'. The pain from not fitting in and missing out on all of the best things in life drove him to the point of suicide.

He's explaining in the second paragraph how painful it was to accept himself. All that's left is pain and self-loathing. When he says 'if you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, you can find out firsthand what it's like to be me' he's saying he hates everything about himself and is trying to explain the pain he felt. When he was alive seeing others so happy made him upset and he worried that nobody cared about him, but in death he's free from this and he's acknowledging at the end that few people are going to be all that upset about his death.

The third paragraph is expressing his absolute apathy towards life. He's not concerned with the pettiness of life anymore and couldn't care less about his funeral 'here's my resignation, i'll serve it in drag'. His death is a statement that he hates life and didn't have any ambitions or want to be anything at all.

But then again, maybe I'm just describing myself.

Switchfoot – The Shadow Proves The Sunshine Lyrics 11 years ago
The song is written to remind you that the sun (your dreams and happiness) are still possible, even though all you can focus on is darkness and pain you feel inside. It hits me on a personal note because my mum died when I was very young and I heard it soon after I felt determined to commit suicide... 'sunshine won't you be my mother' as I have nobody left and I will probably listen to this in my last moments, at the Golden Gates bridge or watching the sunset. And the bit 'oh Lord, why did you forsake me' refers to how this girl broke my heart and took away my last ounce of hope... I thought she wasn't going to hurt me like everyone else. But I also feel it towards God... why did he curse me to live this life?

Stone Sour – Zzyzx Rd. Lyrics 12 years ago
Some of the interpretations on here for this song are so farfetched... I think it's about him being in rehab. He's trying to overcome an addiction but it's a living hell for him and he's suicidal as a result. He's so far down he's taking life one day at a time, but he doesn't see what he has to live for. Even his family would only take him in for a week and he feels that he's a burden on them, and they don't REALLY care as much as he'd expect... they're telling him he's got everything to live for and that he's a star but he's too dead inside to care. And he knows they don't think he has it in him to overcome the addiction, maybe he's been here so many times before and his family are sick of it. At the start he's telling us how painful it is and he's been working on this song for weeks/months but it's not coming to him... he's afraid he'll never get better. I love this song, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
