| Queens of the Stone Age – Mosquito Song Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| The meaning is for individual interpretation. But to me, It seems to be comparing people to Mosquitoes, in that some people will simply use others for all their worth and then leave them for another victim, much like a Mosquitoes drain their prey of blood. I also like the "circle of life" interpretation. | |

If only a hero could save us from Nickelback Jesus Christ they're awful. |

| Soundgarden – Like Suicide Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Aside from Corgan being a complete tosser with no like-able aspects..yeah, I agree. | |
| Soundgarden – 4th of July Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It's just about being on acid, don't read so deeply into it. Don't believe me? Chris was the one who said so. |

| Local H – Back In The Day Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It could be talking about the death of the Hair Metal scene in the early 90's, perhaps a band who is still hanging. I don't think the "punk is dead" line at the start means the person in question is a punk rocker, but probably refferring to the fact that, at the start of the 80's everyone was saying "Punk is dead". He's basically saying to this guy "yeah, punk is dead, but you're next". | |
| Local H – O.K. Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It could be taken a couple of ways. 1. at face value, a musician who made a big impact on Scott has died & he's coming to terms with it. (This would probably be Kurt Cobain, Scott was a fan & it's clearly heard in his music) 2. Metaphorically it could be about a relationship falling apart & Him only just noticing the signs in hind-sight. |

| Local H – Tag Along Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Simple really, He just wants to be like someone else, the title backs this up. A "tag-along" is someone who doesn't really fit in with a group but follows them around, usually because they want to be like those people. | |
| Local H – Nothing Special Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It's about being stuck in a dead end town with no real future, scratching lottery tickets with the hope you'll win and be able to leave, taking drugs (whippits are the canisters of Nitrous Oxide in whipped cream cans, lots of people suck the gas out of the cans to get a buzz) & generally just growing to accept your own mediocrity. It's quite a bleak song (the whole album is) but very easy to relate to, I know this album helped me through my teenage years. |

| Local H – High-Fiving MF Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Jesus Christ! Try typing that again, using real words. You're everything that's wrong with the youth of today. Fucking imbecile. |
|
| Local H – High-Fiving MF Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It's the same thing as Nirvana's "In Bloom" He's basically talking about all the jocks & everyday people who became hanger on's in the underground music scene after Grunge started blowing up. |
|
| Local H – Eddie Vedder Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
The line about Eddie Vedder isn't a cheap shot, it's basically saying "if I was this guy, would you like me more?" It's exactly what it says on the tin so to speak. The whole song is basically just the character expressing his "defeat". Possibly in relation to a girl, or maybe just to the people he meets on a daily basis. |
|
| Local H – Fritz's Corner Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's just about the frustration of being confined to a small town with no way out. The whole album is pretty much a case study of bored suburban youth. | |
| Pearl Jam – Rats Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's simple really, Rats do all these things, but strangely enough, so do Humans. The point of the song is to point out that despite this "human superiority complex" we behave exactly the same as any other animal, and in this case, vermin. | |
| Pearl Jam – Immortality Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Whether or not it's actually about Kurt is beside the point for me, it quite clearly makes reference to him, and much of it could be attributed to him. "Vacate is the word. Vengeance has no place so near to her. Cannot find comfort in this world." - If going with the Cobain angle, the first two lines describe both his desire to escape from the world he was in & his desire to not ruin his daughters to life, the final line is pretty simple, he's unhappy, there's nothing here for him. "A truant finds home, and a wish to hold on, but there's a trap door in the sun. Immortality." - Cobain originally thought fame would make his problems go away, and as such he found a reason to hold on, but there was "A trapdoor in the sun" in the sense that it didn't fix anything, and he quickly grew to hate the attention. "Immortality" could be Vedders view that Cobain is now an immortal icon. "As privileged as a whore. Victims in demand for public show. Swept out through the cracks beneath the door. Holier than thou. How? Surrendered, executed, anyhow. Scrawl dissolved. Cigar box on the floor." - The first two lines could refer to two differing views of Cobain, many viewed him as a "privileged media whore who had nothing to complain about" while others clearly saw him as a "Victim of fame, thrust into the limelight where he self destructed on a very public stage" only to be "swept out through the cracks beneath the door" after his tragic death to make way for new superstars. The next line is basically backing up something Cobain said, along the lines of being just like everyone else & wondering why others placed him on pedestal. The final line is a direct link to his suicide, a Cigar box was found next to him, containing various drug paraphernalia, not to mention that leaving a note in a flower pot would probably expose it to moisture and "dissolve" the paper and words a little. "I cannot stop the thought of running in the dark. Coming up a which way sign. All good truants must decide. Stripped and sold mom. Auctioned forearm and whiskers in the sink. Truants move on, cannot stay long. Some die just to live." - Simple really, no matter what he couldn't shake the unhappiness & had to make a choice between death or what he perceived to be "losing himself and selling out". Truant is mentioned a lot in the song, while Cobain was most likely a truant, I think it refers more to his "outsider" status. The "stripped and sold mom" line could be referring to the fact that Courtney was basically stripped of her privacy and almost sold as a product in magazines. The next line could be speaking about rabid fans who literally wanted a piece of the man, but I'm not totally sure about this. The final lines are basically talking about his short, but powerful career & his desire to stay true to his values being so strong that he thought death was the only way out. ..or I could be full of shit. |

| Pearl Jam – Indifference Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| To me it seems like it's about "rolling with the punches" so to speak. Realizing that trying to "fight" everything won't make any difference. Taking everything as it comes and making the best out of it. The song doesn't seem "hopeless" or "depressed" but almost seems hopeful. | |
| Pavement – Range Life Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Overall the song seems to be about an aging rocker who's still working the touring circuit and longs to retire and have a relaxed life, perhaps on a piece of land somewhere. The final verse, the Smashing Pumpkins thing, was apparently added at the last second as a joke, but it could be taken as the "aging rockers" view of the 90's music scene. | |
| Pavement – Cut Your Hair Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's about the music industry. Particularly the complete insanity and fickleness of the major label/pop side of it. | |
| Pavement – Box Elder Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I always figured that it was just about hating the world (town) around you & just wanting to "get the fuck out" and go anywhere else. But looking closer at the lyrics it could be taken to be about a bad relationship and just wanting to get out of it. |

| Monster Magnet – Negasonic Teenage Warhead Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It's basically a backlash against the grunge scene. The verses from what I can gather don't have anything to do with the overall meaning of the song, the clinch is the lines. "Cause every Supersonic Jerk-off who plugs into the game" - Referring to the amount of "negative" rock bands coming out of the woodwork after the success of "Nevermind". "Is just like every subatomic genius who just invented pain" - Basically talking about all the young guys in these bands moping about as if no-one else has ever been depressed and un-happy. I'm not sure if it's a direct attack on, say Nirvana, or more an attack on the bands that began to appear in the wake of their success. Monster Magnet are very much products of the 60's and 70's, when Rock music was more about rebelling, taking drugs & having a good time. So understandably they'd be critical of the "mopey", "angsty" direction rock was heading. |
