In my opinion, this is a song about a man who has lost all touch with himself and society. In the first lines: "I see her every morning In the middle of the street The suits don't even notice They're staring at their feet" he recognizes that he has lost touch and that the world (suits) is all business, work, and other BS that lacks real meaning, soul, or emotion. The one person that gets it is rejected, and unnoticed. This world he is living in doesn't accept feeling, or down to earth people. "She hears the secret choir That sings for me and you You know I don't believe her But I say I hear them too The angel knows that somewhere out there is soul, and there are people who are in touch. Eventually more of those people will be around. However, he is skeptical because there is not one example of a person like that living in the same world as he is. He's lost all hope and is emotionally drained. Angel You're bulletproof You're so high You see the truth And I'm still on the ground pretending I That I could be like you" The angel sees through all the BS, and isn't effected by this new world, the angel is stronger. He wants to be like her so badly and wishes he could be able to feel anything, but he can't. This new world has changed him and he isn't the same person he used to be. "She asked if I'm a lover I said I'd try to be She said love until your heart breaks Cause there are no guarantees" The 'angel' tells him to go after what he wants, to chase his dreams, love a girl, and to do what makes him happy; despite if it's different from everyone else. Basically shoot for the stars :). He tries to love, but can't because no one else can feel love. He's lost faith in humanity. "Oooooh Call out to heaven Just to let them know You're here Stay with me a moment Say I'm not alone and Tell me that I feel you Again" He wants the angel to cure him and restore his faith. The one desire he has is to feel again, but he just can't. He feels safe and comforted with the angel, it is as if the cruel world around him doesn't exist during those moments. |

| I'm going through that right now. I love this girl so much, but I'm not getting anything in return for all the thought and effort. It sucks and its really tough. Thanks for the awesome summary! | |

| I am actually going through something like this right now. I've fallen deeply in love with someone only to find out it was all for nothing and she is just teasing me and wants the attention. When I first met her, she was safe, we were close, and then that all went away at one point. Then I saw her acting like that around other people, I don't know what it is but there is still this wishful thinking that says it wasn't for nothing and she was being genuine... Bottom line, this song is about being lead on and not being able to let go and you don't know why. There is something about them and they just keep pulling you in and you can't help yourself. You think you know them but you don't. It hurts and it's tough to get through. | |
