Thank you so much; I knew there was something more that this Song wanted to express to me, but I couln't find it.
The funny thing about the ending of the song and the conclusion of your Interpretation is that giving up the ghost could mean 1) move on, evolve despite everything we've been through like you said or 2) just litterally give up the ghost - die. Not standing the thought of being that incomplete and not being able to overlook and forget.
Just wanted to add this because it makes the song so much more open and free. |

great point of view. I would sign it.
and by the way you're right with the assumption that Thom wrote the song after singing for a stadium full of people - even many many more than one. Thom said that he wrote it after years of touring the album "OK Computer". They really "overtoured" the Album so that they couldn't hear it and were performing badly - thom's words! So the thought of him wanting to be just small, unimportant, an observer, not an actor really makes sense. |
