i don't think it's about rape, or at least completely intended to be. when they changed the lyrics for Frengers, it made the song more ambiguous and, in my opinion, more powerful. the ending from Triumph always seemed a little weak to me, and it's much easier to stick more and different meaning into a song that's less specific. Mew is always a little better when their lyrics are obtuse, i think, like with "Silas the Magic Car," where Johan's leaving is only one interpretation. |
