The Neighbourhood – A Little Death Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't think it is just about sex. From the lines, "make me feel like I am breathing, make me feel like I am human.", it's releasing all your stress and care in the world into a very passionate affair. About not caring where you are, but making the best of it and ignoring all things around you. Drowning all your sorrows, cares and worries into a great orgasm.
From the lines, "The neighbor was knocking, yeah. But no one would let him in" it makes it sound like it is a secrecy romance. Especially how they looked at each other before entering the room, and then how she pulled her face to her when she was worried about the knocking. Which would make complete sense considering they are lesbians, and by the way they are dressed they seem like people with big roles in a company, church, or society in general.
They do NOT look at each other like they are just there to fuck, they look at each other with passion and sexual frustration as if they wanted to do this since they met or so.
In French "a little death" does mean orgasm. "She sought death on a queen sized bed, he had said darling your looks can kill and now you're dead" Almost makes it sound as if one of them had been in a relationship with a man that could never make her orgasm because she didn't feel right with him as she did with a woman.
So, no, I don't believe it is just about sex. I believe it is about two people expressing their love for each other in private where no one could bother them and no one was allowed to watch.
That's my interpretation of the song.
