| Sara Bareilles – Love Song Lyrics | 11 years ago |

This is my interpretation. Lyric breakdown Head underwater And they tell me To breathe easy for a while She has drowned in her failures to show affection towards her partner or probably hasn't shown enough affection. Breathing is coping with the failure. Breathing gets harder, even I know that She is finding it harder and harder to cope with being called a failure and she is tempted to tell her partner her side of the argument which she does further in the song. Made room for me It's too soon to see If I'm happy in your hands She is still unsure if she is happy with her parter or not. She is probably unhappy because he expects more of her than she is capable of giving or more than she thinks is necessary. I'm unusually hard to hold on to Blank stares at blank pages No easy way to say this She is attempting to show affection which I think is symbolised by writing the love song. She has no idea what to do to show more affection. You mean well, but you make this hard on me She know that her parter is only trying to advice, or trying to find hope in her partner, again she isn't sure if her opinion on him. I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you asked for it 'Cause you need one, you see This is her rebelling against her parter. She isn't going to show a huge amount of unnecessary affection which she finds hard giving - symbolised by writing a "Love Song". I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you tell me it's Make or breaking this If you're on your way She is showing that she doesn't care if her parter leaves her. She is making it clear she isn't going to change and he will have to change and accept she is staying the way she is. I'm not gonna write you to stay If all you have is leavin' I'ma need a better reason To write you a love song Today, today, yeah Leaving isn't a good enough reason. She'd rather be alone than be in a relationship and be forced to do something she does not want to do. I learned the hard way That they all say Things you want to hear My heavy heart sinks deep down under I think this line is showing that although she feels rebellious, this break-up, or close to break-up moment still hurts her. She doesn't want to be seen as someone who doesn't care at all, just someone who doesn't get walked over. You and your twisted words Your help just hurts Her parter's initial words were twisted. He obviously had said something that was intended for her to misinterpret. The partner's helping of their relationship doesn't do anything but hurt her. If a relationship isn't working, it is a sign it shouldn't be a relationship. You are not what I thought you were Hello to high and dry "High and Dry" usually means to come out of the water. At the start of the song she is under water, so now she isn't drowning anymore in her failures. Throughout the song she has developed to fight of her failures and not see them and failures anymore. Convince me to please you Make me think that I need this too She is challenging his ability to force her to do things she doesn't want to do which is weak. She is also challenging his ability to show affection. She may be suggesting he is being a hypocrite, as he is trying to get her to show a special kind of affection, though the partner's affection doesn't please her any more than any other average person could. She doesn't need the love. I'm trying to let you hear me as I am She is attempting to show she isn't affectionate in the way her partner wants but they won't listen. I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you asked for it 'Cause you need one, you see I'm not gonna write you alove song 'Cause you tell me it's Make or breaking this If you're on your way I'm not gonna write you to stay If all you have is leavin' I'ma need a better reason To write you a love song Today (Previous Chorus analysis) Promise me you'll leave the light on To help me see With daylight, my guide, gone I think leaving the light on represents a spark of hope. Their relationship is not dead. It may be breaking, but it isn't broken. They still have a chance. The writer has given up because her "daylight" and "guide" is gone. 'Cause I believe there's a way You can love me because I say She still has faith that they can love I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you asked for it 'Cause you need one, You see I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you tell me it's Make or breaking this Is that why you wanted a love song? 'Cause you asked for it 'Cause you need one, you see I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you tell me it's Make or breaking this Or you're on your way I'm not gonna write you to stay If your heart is nowhere in it I don't want it for a minute She feels like she is doing all the work. Her partner has to put in some work other than just herself independently. Babe, I'll walk the seven seas when I believe that There's a reason to write you a love song Today, today Reinforcing her view that she has no reason to write the love song. |

| Lady GaGa – Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly) Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Personally I think this song is about a certain stage of a relationship where a couple have began being sexual. Lady Gaga does not want to give R. Kelly her love because she senses flaws - "I, I stand up and then I'm okay But then you print some shit that makes me wanna scream" She is not sure about him. Though in the second verse I think that R. Kelly is trying to prove himself to her by saying things like "I could be the drink in your cup I could be the green in your blunt" |

| V V Brown – Shark In The Water Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I think the song is about her lover losing interest in her, and she is scared that he will lose full interest. Sometimes I get my head in a dilly Feeling so lost, ticking you off Now boy, you know me well Said, I'm that kind of feeling That kind of soft, that kind of silly But when I'm in doubt, I open my mouth And words come out, words come out like I think this verse is her explaining that she is basically annoying her lover, she is becoming confused and not thinking what she is doing. Baby, there’s a shark in the water There’s something underneath my bed Oh, please believe I said Baby, there’s a shark in the water I caught them barking at the moon Better be soon This is clearly about her trying to get her lover's attention. The shark could either be what threatening her relationship, like other people her lover prefers, or her trying to get attention. High in the sky, the song that I’m singing A sweet little lie, I cry wolf, cry Rabbit out of the hat, yes, so that’s why I’m bringing Some tricks up my sleeve, for noticing me It wouldn’t cause you any harm, I just want you in my arms I can’t help, I can’t help myself This verse I think is also about her trying to grab attention, though also her fear of her lover not believing her. That is where the cry wold reference comes from. "Some tricks up my sleeve, for noticing me" also shows her cry for attention. The last two lines shows that she is apologetic for what she is doing. Right is right Rules are rules This is more like April Fool’s I’m just winding you up, oh Jack be nimble, Jack be quick Please don’t make too much of it It ain’t that serious This is her doubting herself and fearing she is doing the wrong thing. "It ain't that serious" shows she doesn't want her lover to thinks she is trying to take control him, again showing her fear. |
