At first I was reading the lyrics (I knew the song but I had to look up what the fuck he was saying... I'm new to hard core punk...) and at first I thought it was just a person (Davey) who's life is bleak. He dose nothing pretty much. But he thinks about going out and seeing what life can be... But then I got further into it. Davey says "two windows look back at me Three stories high and nothing is new" made me rethink everything. When he's talking about exploring out slide he means killing himself... I know it sounds weird because it seems like that comes around a lot in AFI. But he probably thinks nothing of himself, he dose nothing, he feels nothing. And some day he'll stand, like he said, and that'll be when he dose it, from three strikes high... see what's going on??? Yea, that's just my opinion that I'm giving at 1:24 am. I think it makes sense. |

I think it's about a long distance relationship and how beautiful, yet painful it can be. He's obviously is love with this woman (man maybe) and they are far away. "A whisper from miles away." He saying I love you, but she has tho picture it, because he's miles away. "Seal it with a kiss" "Can you take this lipstick and light play and carry it miles away" he sending her a letter of his love. "I will walk across the ocean" he'd do anything to see her, in this case, he'd have to travel. "Keep you from me" he knows that it'd be bad if they meet in person for one reason or another. "Hooked on a star, enraptured by the sky. In love with a satellite." Now, he's saying he's so far away it seems like he's not even on the planet. Then, he can say how he loves her. And who could resist this love, maybe he feels like the distance between them makes it that much more beautiful because they can keep their love alive without face to face meetings. And then he's saying he can feel the warmth of her love from "worlds away". That's deep love if you ask me. obviously she isn't really on another planet, it's metaphorically. Then he goes back to saying it's also a bad thing. Because it's breaking his heart. But he keeps loving her. I like the other meanings too. This is just from my point of view. |

I really love this song. It gets me pumped. I feel it's about them starting the band and people are trying to put them down and say that's a dumb idea. But they really just don't fucking care. They can see their future is bright and those few people aren't gunna ruin it for them. :) |

| AFI – A Deep Slow Panic Lyrics

I'm, first few lines he's obviously complimenting a woman. It literally made him clasps. Nest you can tell it's someone who he knew before, he could be collapsing because it was someone he was over, and now they're back. And he knows he'll give right back into her. And next, you can tell that it's consuming his life all over again. And some part of him knows that she's doing this deliberately. "Teach me not to dream deeply" he's saying tell him how to not get his hopes up, because they'll be knocked down. Next he says "I haven't left here for days. My panic keeps me awake." A few AFI songs have to do with is sleeping disorder(s) So what he's feeling is so bad he can't sleep. "He told me I should had know" next another man had been trying to tell him... "That he'd hated the way I'd grown to love soft lies." Here this person wanted Davey to love him, not the lying girl that was hurting him. "She lied" he loved lies - he loved her. The man tried to tell Davey that she was no good and that he loved him, but he wouldn't listen. "Do you miss her, like I missed you?" He could be asking if there's and love Davey could give him, because he still loves him. Or, it could be that he's asking if she's worth it. And that he doesn't love him anymore so it's being used as a past tense. Then the chorus comes around and now he's panicking because he figured out that he was right. And he can't fix it. "Slowly I swallowed your fears, for all of those years? How could you let them consume me?" He's talking to the girl again. Asking her why'd she do this to him when all he'd ever do was help her. "Teach me how you sleep so sweetly" could be him asking how she could still sleep at night after what she did. Or, she hurt him so bad, that his insomnia is coming back and he can't sleep, but it's not fair that she can when Davey doesn't deserve to be kept awake with this pain. Of course, this girls, could be a metaphor for something. Possibly cutting himself. I highly doubt it's drugs. And maybe the guy was telling him he needs to stop because he loves him. And in the beginning, he could be having a relapse. Because she/it is coming back into his life. That's how I see it. Thanks for reading, I know it's long. :) |

I'm pretty sure it's about Jesus dying. I know Davey is atheist but they put lots of religious stuff in their music. Like the clandestine thing with the rabbits and reincarnation stuff. "Murderous filigree" "I'm caught in the twisting of the vines" he's talking about the crown of thorns. Same with "Go ascend with livery climbing". "The headstone crumbling behind." Could be how he thinks he will forgotten as the son of God entirely once he dies. Or, his headstone could be crumbling because he won't be dead for long. "I can stand my laughter as they cry." On the cross, he knows he'll be coming back in just three day. It's almost funny to him because the people who believed in him are crying, he knows there's no reason for that. Next verse, he talking about his literal death, how it's written in the bible. He says "hidden so shamefully" because humanity killed the one human who truly wanted to save them. And why would humanity want to be remembered that way? Davey says a lot about hating humanity in his music. He "can still feel the violence if the lines" is more about the bible in which what happened was so awful. "And miles away my mother cries" he's tAlking about Marry, and how she's 'far away' from Jesus. Yet she's still upset. Ok and to tell you the truth, I wasn't sure about the word Omnipotence. I looked it up. ( ^-^)ノ∠※。.:*:・'°. All power, from the people who wanted to kill him, was nurturing the evil in the others people who wanted to kill him. I could be wrong about that last part. Hope that helps. :) |

I have no doubt in my mind that this song is about suicide. The first two lines "Can you tell me what stopped the rain? Where is salvation?" He asking someone (possibly himself or a higher power) it there's any way to end the way he's feeling, whatever it is, it's not clear to me. He says "Sirens screaming just for me." He saying that he can hear ambulances coming to save him once he's attempted. Next line, the void, the empty feeling he has, is still there, because the ambulance saved him. He could easily be talking about a person, or God. He asks if they would save his life if they knew why it was the last time he's leaving. He's asking if they would stop him if they knew why he wanted to say goodbye for the last time. Final goodbyes can be a term for death. I think in the second verse, he's been saved from death, but he still feels dead inside, so to feel some thing, he cuts himself. ("Self medication." "How deep must we cut, to reach sensation?") Then, eventually, some people end up going to deep, and he needs to be physically saved a again. "Find with me, the end" he say as the end of his life on earth. Then he's asking over and over if the person or higher power would save him. Not just physically, but mentally too. But of course, art is how you see it, Davey most likely won't break down his feelings for the world. So we can put it anyway we feel. |
