| Kelly Clarkson – Just For Now Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song relates a lot of the stress of the holidays; food burning, kids bickering, etc. And with Kelly's new blended family (her new husband had two kids from a previous marriage), a lot of it sounds very maternal ("Can we settle down please? / Don't wag your finger at me!") Also, I think the "I know we've all had a bumpy ride / I'm secretly on your side" refers to being a new stepmother. There is usually a lot of transition and sometimes conflict when a parent remarries, and in this line, Kelly is acknowledging how tough things have been, but also letting her stepchildren know that she is their friend, not their enemy. The "How did you know / It's exactly what I wanted / Could never have too many of these" likely refers to her recently announced pregnancy and her previous mention in interviews about wanting a big family. All in all I think she's calling a truce, that whatever is going on in all the madness of the holidays, she's asking for just a moment of peace and family togetherness. |
