Mumford & Sons – Broken Crown Lyrics 12 years ago
The best thing about music is that we can all get our interpretation of what it can mean to us individually in our own lives. For the better that is. My thoughts are entirely my own opinion and I mean no disrespect or offense to anyone. Whether you are a believer in God or not I hold no judgement towards you. Nor do I claim to be correct in my statement.
With that said I'm not going to recite the whole song. We all know the lyrics now but I always felt like it pointed out false Christians who abuse the name of God for power, control, and ultimately hypocrisy. In this twilight how dare you speak your grace. In these days with all the crimes, false laws, false leaders with misleading information, media dumbing down the nation with their idea of what we should value or how we should feel about others. With all that corruption who wants to reach for their broken crown? Who are they to speak about grace when they have none. Just dark hearts that "love" and worship God for all the wrong reasons. Loving God out of fear is no love at all and these people are only fooling themselves. Loving God for what he gives us each and everyday, every second, is putting the best foot forward in establishing a real loving relationship. These false Christians have been destroying Gods people from the inside out for far too long. Religion is now at its knees and we should be thankful to God for giving us the gifts to choose with right from wrong and see the subliminal attack. Just think about what people were worshiping before any religion was forced on anyone.

This interpretation seems to be the closest to what really makes sense. Everyone is trying their hardest to relate this the bible and make it seem like a Christian song or relate it to adultery. The lyrics are clear to me. Let everyone else reach for a broken idea of what is right and idealistic of a good person.
