This is by far their best song although I like a lot of their stuff. This song is one of those sad but true story's because In all honesty we probably all have had that one (at least one) relationship where you love them so very very much but one or both of you are completely miserable for whatever reason. But he's saying he's tired of being the reason she cries and the best thing anyone who truly loves someone , that they can do in such a situation is to let them go because if you really love someone you'd want them to be happy. And he says clearly it's not what he wants and it's going to make him cry and probably crush him it repairable because he also says he will never love another. He's basically saying that things will never get better and he knows it, and to love someone else more than yourself is not to be selfish and keep them trapped in a loveless , miserable romance for their whole life so they can be together. If you watch the video you can get an alternate meaning on this song as well because in the video it stars a man who's being sent to war and his army wife and daughter and he's come aware that him being constantly being deployed is crushing them especially his wife and daughter, because he feels that there might come a day where not only he may never return ( in that case deal with his death) or simply the constant deployment causing her sorrow and grief and worry ... It's hard to say if the idea of this song is right or wrong I do know in many relationships it's better to leave while you both are still at least somewhat intact but at the same time depending on the situation it does make you pause to think if he's aware he's the cause of her pain wouldn't he just course correct his behaviors? Change and be the man she deserves rather than ending it? I don't know it's one of those songs that to me are both right and wrong all depending on the exact situation. |

I think this is hands down his best song yet. I believe the song means that regardless of who others see this girl as or what her past was he doesn't care, that he sees her for who she really is inside and the " you're a good girl and you know it, you act so different around me" is basically saying just that, that by his love and their relationship he knows that she is lady and a woman of heart and to him is innocent and someone he wants to protect and love he literally adores her. And he believes in her by saying " I know exactly who you could be" he lovingly accepts her past and all and only sees her as she is in the "now" and her future with him. And the hold on we're going home part (if you take from the video it's a rescue) but it's still a rescue because he's rescuing her from a life she doesn't deserve for a life he knows she's worthy of. And obviously the home is just saying you're with me from now on and the part when he says "it's hard to do these things alone" that can be taken in so many ways the girl of the story could be a stripper, prostitute or even just a woman with a difficult past who's trying to leave her past behind and he's saying she doesn't have to try to do all that alone because she has him to rely on. These are just my thoughts . |

I never noticed she said " Amy" I thought she said "baby" either way this is my all time favorite song by her... It's so perfect , so vulnerable and the love and the pain of that love is amazing because you can really hurt the harder you love someone. I always since I heard it thought I really wanted it played at my wedding. I love how she describes in in the beginning like she's writhing a heartfelt love letter to her lover. And that when you're talking from the heart how draining it is the stronger you feel for them...to me I think it's the greatest honor to hear someone say that you truly belong to them and how deeply you love them and always have. My favorite line is ; "Amy, marry me, promise you'll stay with me."

Because I actually wrote a poem called night sky to my fiancée before calling him my night sky because we were far apart and looking to that sky in my heart I was looking at him .. So it's funny how she connected so well with me on that it blew me away.. But Amy always writes beautiful music that you can easily connect with emotionally with or without any specific words , be it her voice or just her very essence no pun intended. If you haven't actually heard this song yet it's incredible you have to listen right away. |

I love this song I always have but now it's my song with my fiancée so it's got even more meaning to it now on a personal level. My take on the songs meaning is loving someone with a truly innocent love, experiencing a love that isn't like your previous romances because this person reminds you of being like a child.. Happy and carefree , that they make you feel young and takes you back to a time you felt peaceful and reminds you of innocence once again. It's my favorite GNR song right next to November rain , don't cry and account less others. |

This song is about a make up break up couple where the woman is basically very confused and cannot make up her mind about what she wants in a relationship. She breaks up with the hero of the song repeatedly and he knows he will take her back every time because to him this is all typical and what he's come to expect of her, that they will break up she will see other men who don't treat her right and she will come back to him because really she knows who really loves her. He obviously is mentally tired of this but because her loves her he feels he has no choice. In many verses of the song he says he doesn't mind where she comes from as long as she comes to him which to me as long as she realizes that he's the one and comes to him he will not judge her for her ways or what she's done. He implies his patience In this tiresome relationship by saying he's got the skill and the will, knowing that the good times are sure not to last but he enjoys all the time he's got with her until she decides yet again to leave him. It's a great song, I love sick puppies they really make some of the most underrated lyrically solid songs you could ever have the privilege to hear. |

I really like this song, really gets you going. Obviously there's no inner meaning in it it's just a fun song with a sick beat. The only meaning to it is shameless adoration for a woman's bottom hahaha |
