This song is mind-blowing. It has a huge and beautiful sound and almost physically lets one see what is sung. The fact that so many people can get this many different interpretations really shows how stunningly good this song really is. To me, this song is all about leaving what you (for now) hold dear to go out into the big world of opportunities and exchange it to something you want more. I'm interpreting this song in relation to myself; a 21-year-old lad who finished college, went half a year away to travel the world and now has been home for a few months. Now he's sitting in his room. It's dark and cold outside and he needs to find his place in this world somehow. "HOME'S FACE. HOW IT AGES WHEN YOU'RE AWAY" As I came home, I saw how everything and everyone slowly had changed. I can only imagine how much it would change if I stayed away longer. This part of the song gives me a feeling of sacrificing the place you used to live and the people who belong there, for your dream and the new life you pursue. "BURN IT DOWN 'TIL THE EMBERS SMOKE ON THE GROUND AND START NEW WHEN YOUR HEART IS AN EMPTY ROOM WITH WALLS OF THE DEEPEST BLUE "THE FLAMES AND SMOKE CLIMBED OUT OF EVERY WINDOW AND DISAPPEARED WITH EVERYTHING THAT YOU HELD DEAR BUT YOU SHED NOT A SINGLE TEAR FOR THE THINGS THAT YOU DIDN'T NEED 'CAUSE YOU KNEW YOU WERE FINALLY FREE I now have leave everything behind, my old life and some people to pursue my dreams in life. To be able to reach my goals in life I have to start new and even though I may have to say goodbye to many things and people, it will be for the better, therefore I will not shed any tears. 'Cause I will be free to fill my empty, conscious heart with whatever I please. "CAUSE ALL YOU SEE IS WHERE ELSE YOU COULD BE WHEN YOU'RE AT HOME AND OUT ON THE STREET ARE SO MANY POSSIBILITIES TO NOT BE ALONE" This part is at the same exactly how I feel and the solution to my problem. I feel I'm wasting my time when I'm at home when really, if I went outside into the world I would see that there are so many possibilities to not be alone - and do something with my precious life. That's just where I feel it fits :-) |
