Depeche Mode – Useless Lyrics 2 years ago
To me, this song deals with 2 people, one of them has dreams that the other simply can't see as possible or realistic and in the by letting the other know, is attacked and belittled in the process.
Music is something truly magical, with meanings that can change depending on who is listening and when, I had an argue with my significant other while feeling every single word from this song was what I felt in that moment...but then, after TRULY listening to her, I came to realize that it could also be what she felt towards me at the time.

I love this song's music and voice, the actual meaning not as much, but still, I think this is my favorite song, when I heard it live I actually cried out of emotion!

This song is one of those that, if you don't pay attention to the lyrics, might sound somewhat cheerful...but oh when you pay atention to them...
It's one of the most heartbreaking songs I've heard. Similar to From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea in that both reflect unrequited love, but whereas Edge tells a story of a man that actually attempts to break free but is unable to, Letter to Elise deals with something more painful: resignation.
He knows it's over, he knows that no matter what he does, she will never love him back, at least not as much as he loves her, and while she can deal with whatever pain it could bring her(if she was to care for him) to treat him that way, he can't hold his pain(But I just can't hold my tears away the way you do), and what is worse, he know it hurts her to reject him, so he takes all the blame(Elise believe I never wanted this) and eventually, heartbroken, he has no option but to painfully let her go(I let the dream go/and the promises broke/the make-believe ran out).

The Cure – From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's about a man who is in love with a woman who doesn't exactly return the feelings, but there's something in the way she acts that keeps him interested/with hope, but if he gets close, she goes away, if he begins to get over her, she pulls him back, and she eventually realizes he is hurt, but he plays it strong and acts as if he was okay when he obviously is not.
Also "It's always the same/a different name/same old game/love in vain" implies that he's been through this many times before, with different women.
I've somewhat been through something like this, and currently feel this way, so this song means a lot to me.
