Bring Me the Horizon – And the Snakes Start to Sing Lyrics 12 years ago
*note: this is just how I interpreted it. I didn't know oli's parents were involved in this*
I think it's about when Oli was younger and he was bullied and whatnot.. '-'

"Do you feel the chill
Clawing at the back of your neck?"
Maybe the urge to bully him was getting to their heads? i'm not too sure

"I start to spill
Did you really think that you could fix me?"
I think this means that as he started opening up to everyone at school or whatever they tried "fixing" him to make him more like the other kids in his community

"They'll sell your bones for another roll"
People there might have been drug addicts, so this might mean that they would do practically anything to get more drugs?

"Well sharpen your teeth
And tell yourself that it's just business"
As in people do it all the time, and it's just a regular part of their routine.

"Worms come out of the woodwork.
Leeches crawl from out of the dirt
Rats come out of the holes they call home"
The bullies are coming out of their "homes" to go and bully Oli and whatnot

"I fall apart
And the snakes start to sing"
I think "start to sing" refers to them verbally bullying him, and they do it while watching him fall apart.

"Don't say I'm better off dead,
'Cause heaven's full and hell won't have me."
This may symbolize that they were sending him death threats and this may have been his response or something? not too sure

"Won't you make some room in your bed?"
He wants to know if someone will open up to him and be his friend instead of bullying him

"Oh, well you could lock me up in your heart,
And throw away the key."
He wants that one person that will be his friend to never forget about him and stay his friend forever

"Won't you take me out of my head?"
Oli has stated that he self harmed before, so maybe that friend was pulling him into reality and showing him that it's not the answer and that the bullies shouldn't get to him

"I'm just a would've been, could've been,
Should've been, never was and never ever will be."
I'm not too sure about this one, but this one stands out to me the most. I think he means that he had the opportunity to be like the rest of the people but he said or did something to ruin that; he would've been that person if he didn't say/do the thing that he might have done, he could have had that person continue in his footsteps for the rest of his life, he should have been that person, never was that person, and never will be that person.

"If you can't soar with the eagles,
Then don't fly with the flock."
This one also stands out to me a lot. I think it means that if he can't be like the rest of the people in his community or school or whatever then he shouldn't even try to

"Are you still getting high?"
Referring to how the people in his school/community might have been drug addicts or something

"Did you catch your own reflection,
In the knife my mother held?
Or the hell in my father's eyes?"
I'm not very sure about this one. Maybe he told his parents about how he was being bullied, and his mother was really upset, so she grabbed a knife (that or it's a metaphor) and his father was shocked about him being bullied and/or the knife that his mother was holding

"Are you still getting by?"
He wants to know if that friend that he was referring to earlier is doing alright.

"Was I your knight in shining armor?
The apple of your eye?
Or just a step to climb?"
I think this is going back to that friend that he had/wanted to have, or a relationship that he might have had with that friend. He wants to know if he actually meant something to that person or if he was "just a step to climb"

Like I said, this is my interpretation and yeah. uwu
