| Bruce Springsteen – Dancing In The Dark Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
It has taken me a while but I think I have it figured. He is a lonely man wanting love, and he's tired of himself and his life. He wants a woman to feel something deep with. He is the "gun" and he's available ("for hire"). A simple dance is better than nothing. In the dark, there's intimacy and no expectations for anything more. But it has to be initiated by a spark. |

| fun. – We Are Young Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| This song is about a young man who was in a dysfunctional relationship with a woman and they were caught up in the toxic addiction of various types of abuse. The man is willing to take another run at their back and forth history, and releases all care by incorporating the effects of drugs/alcohol and youth. | |
| Shawn Mendes – In My Blood Lyrics | 7 years ago |
|
Shawn Mendes has commented that this song is about his struggle with anxiety, since becoming famous. In my opinion, I interpret the song as him expressing his experience in words when he's anxious, but choosing to dig deep from within to fight through it. Instead of masking the issue or temporarily "fixing" it by using alcohol or sex, he's choosing to be stronger than that. |

| Harry Styles – Sign of the Times Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
"Just stop your crying It's a sign of the times Welcome to the final show Hope you're wearing your best clothes" Stop your crying, this is the end and this is how it goes. "You can't bribe the door on your way to the sky You look pretty good down here But you ain't really good" Doors close on certain chapters of your life and trying to stop one from closing doesn't work. You look pretty good, but inside you're not doing ok. "We never learn, we've been here before Why are we always stuck and running from The bullets, the bullets? We never learn, we've been here before Why are we always stuck and running from The bullets, the bullets?" We keep coming back together and trying to dodge the inevitable (the death of our relationship). And then the rest sort of speaks for itself. |

| Bruce Springsteen – I'm on Fire Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
Two parts of this song get me - "little girl" and "your daddy." I think I'm going to take it as: "little girl" means a young woman, and "your daddy" means your older man/provider. And the line, "Can he do to you the things that I do," absolutely suggests "Can he please you sexually like I can do." And the "that I do" in that line means that she does cheat with the singer on the odd occasion, and the singer craves that. That line is my favourite line in the whole song. Without getting too deep into the lyrics, the whole feel of the song is a man longing for a woman, and he doesn't care if another man is in the way. Which I find super sexy for some reason. |

This song is simple: It's about a guy who used to be shy and insecure. But now he has found an attractive woman that his friends are jealous of (finally giving him some sense of pride) and he does not want to lose her. |

| Hozier – Take Me to Church Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
This song discusses the difference between the lack of restrictions of love (God) and the restrictions of the church (religion). The lyrics refer to a heterogeneous relationship, while the video represents a homogeneous relationship - either way, love can exist. "My lover's got humor She's the giggle at a funeral Knows everybody's disapproval I should've worshiped her sooner" This verse represents how life is taken too seriously - we need to enjoy it and "giggle", laugh, love without chains on our hearts. Death is not a sad event. The female's outlook on life is sweet, innocent, charming and loving. Some people might disapprove of this, but it is one we should actually strive to achieve. "If the Heavens ever did speak She's the last true mouth piece Every Sunday's getting more bleak A fresh poison each week" If we could hear the universal truth, it would say that this woman has found true bliss. But some churches are preaching things each Sunday that actually hinder people from understanding this universal bliss. "The only heaven I'll be sent to Is when I'm alone with you I was born sick, but I love it Command me to be well" Alone with her - the woman who knows how to love - is the feeling of true heaven. I was born to be a rebel, to rebel against societal norms. But it's a good thing, because it doesn't make him a follower. His simple request to God is to allow him to be well and whole as a person should be. "Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good god, let me give you my life" God, I will go to church and worship you, even if I don't agree with what the people of the church are saying and the people don't agree with how I live. "If I'm a pagan of the good times My lover's the sunlight To keep the goddess on my side She demands a sacrifice To drain the whole sea Get something shiny Something meaty for the main course That's a fine looking high horse What you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful That looks tasty That looks plenty This is hungry work" This section is all about peoples' greed. We can't live that way. There also needs to be sacrifice of the heart out of love for God. "No masters or kings when the ritual begins There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene Only then I am human Only then I am clean" We make mistakes. We have one master and he lies within ourselves. Pray to be healed and heal from within. We are human - mistake makers - and we have God within for strength. Pray for proper guidance from Him, a guidance more powerful than our innate desire for greed. Love. This song is about finding true, unbinding love, by following the guidance of our true master, not by society. |

| Pearl Jam – Better Man Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song makes me ill inside. There's something addictive and sick and twisted about staying with someone who abuses you. I have heard this song many times before and hardly noticed the lyrics. But when I was in a relationship that I was questioning, this song came on and I instantly felt sick to my stomach; like something was wrong. What I was feeling was that the lyrics fit perfectly into my situation. After many "that's why she'll be back again's" I decided enough was enough. I broke free from an abusive man and although I find this song a piece of art, everytime I listen to it, I get that creepy erotic feeling of staying in an unhealthy situation; makes me remember how much I hated it, but also how sickeningly intoxicating it was. |
