| Rabia Sorda – Walking on Nails Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I think "walking on nails" is a metaphor for the difficult journey humanity has faced trying to build up a civilization from nothing. The artist is saying that our collapse as a civilization lies ahead, and the journey back to nothingness will be just as excruciating. | |

First of all, this is a kick-ass song and one my favorites of the album. I've always thought this song described the process of humanity's decline, and a possible look at the after effects. "dry wind chars human storm lies barren wasted" A description of a dead planet, ravaged by humanity's folly. "greed taints water thirst" "death grabs at stillborn child another low test pesticide" A pesticide deemed "safe" is actually lethal. Our greed has poisoned the water. "not until they are dead believe in words attaching dread no meaning " No one pays attention to the warning until they're already dead. Words that tell of the dread to come have no meaning because no one is listening. "no chance to rectify" No one cares until they die, so no one can change anything. There is no escape from ultimate obliteration. "nightmare running races skyward tower boil black water tea contagious waste disposal growing" Suddenly, the song speeds up and gets almost frantic: too much waiting, too little action. Everything spirals out of control. The end of civilization/life as we know it is here. "blind faith a tragedy propagate safe history blind faith a tragedy propagate safe history" I don't think this needs much explanation. "creatures running underground all the cages rusted displaced food bowls empty now fit for the licking" I can think of two interpretations for this section. First, all the creatures imprisoned by humanity in zoos or animal testing facilities are free now that we (humans) are gone. They are left to fend for themselves in the inhospitable world we left them. Second, humans _are_ the creatures mentioned, now reduced to live the lives of their ancestors following the collapse of civilization. "faces form memory blind faith stupidity races run secretly blind faith a tragedy" All the faces die and disappear. All that is left is a distant, misunderstood memory. "not until they are dead stop breathing fleas attach themselves biting bits of flesh consuming words once hated words are shit contracting the disease" I'm not so sure about this part, but I think it's saying that the words of warning, however unpleasant they might have seemed, are still preferable to having parasites burrowing in your dead body. The final two lines seem to be expressing anger at the fact that nobody seems to pay attention to words anymore: they are shit because they aren't making people change. The disease of apathy and indifference has infected human speech and rendered it worthless. A brutal song about just how badly we've fucked ourselves over. |

| Covenant – Go Film Lyrics | 12 years ago |

To me, this seems to be describing a dream of some sort. The Chorus describes how dreams can allow one to experience any reality, like a movie, and yet it it is never truly real--"We never touch" (in my dreams at least I can never remember actually touching anything, its more like I'm a floating camera outside of a body). Here are a few interpretations of specific lines: "Wet and cold from shifting daydreams wakeful in the sleep" The dreamer is cold and sweating as a result of what they see in their dream. "Waiting for the noise to come to blur the weary mind" The dreamer anticipates the noise that will blur away their dreams by waking them up. "In and out from foreign shores I've gone astray in time Born to search for something I have never ever seen On an endless quest to hostile ground and unknown lands" The dreamer describes adventures they experience while dreaming. "Then the scene go back to where it started and I fall As shadows shift from red to gray I notice there's no floor And gravity awakes me as it throws me to the ground" The dreamer is woken up when they fall out of bed. "A million tiny grains of dust obscures me from your eyes" The dreamer can't see someone who was in their dream. The dust could either literally be due to dust thrown up from hitting the floor or refer to the cloudiness in the dreamer's head. Brilliant song, whatever the meaning is. Very poetic lyrics. |

| Icon Of Coil – Dead Enough For Life Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think this song is from the perspective of Cerberus, the multi-headed hellhound (or "three head watchdog") that guards the gates to the underworld in greek and roman mythology, or some creature in a similar state. The singer is trapped between worlds, chained to the gates of the underworld while being unable to truly pass into either death or life. Perhaps one has to be dead in order to be made alive, and vice-versa? | |
