| This song is about having a child and not expecting the impact they have on life. The realization that life isn't about you anymore and that you've 'got a ways to go' in both things to accomplish and a legacy to leave behind. You end up 'smoking in the back room' and 'calling just to hear you. When I became a parent, I realized, hell, I didn't want to sleep at night anyway and I certainly did not know my name, until I realized it would always be 'daddy' to someone that I love much more than myself.
