| I interpret the song as being about an unrequited crush. Someone not understanding your goals for them, waiting for them until the evidence conveys another side (maybe they find a partner or they flat out tell you that they're not interested), those positive moments when you feel like maaaaybe you have a chance ("I feel wondrous and holy" etc), but ultimately the letdown of eventually accepting that it wasn't meant to be, and trying not to feel on your way down. | |
