Dear native speakers,
does anyone know why you should bring a lampshade?
Btw, after I heard this song for the first time I thought she was singing about a collective suicide plot - "here it`s never ending, can´t remember where it started" - the eternity you find in death; "swinging party", "we hang side by side" sounds still very romantic to me, but I guess I was wrong |

I really love the violins. So touching. Reminds me of Lanas Paradise Tour and would have fit perfectly in the Born To Die Album. Anyway, the song gives Ultraviolence a perfect touch of nostalgia and melancholia. |

The most extreme act of violence is rape. The singer is losing herself in being raped. She likes the pain and needs to get hurt just to feel she is alive. She starts to like being raped, probably she suffers from mental illnes (depression and suicide are one of Lanas guiding themes). |

Thank you for the true words. But you missed the point she is quoting Nietzsche ("Gott ist tot", "god's dead"). It refers to a lifestyle based on Nihilsm. |

I especially like the song because you don´t know if it is about love OR drugs. Yes, she is talking about addiction, but you can also be addicted to love. |

I think this song is about all people that lived at the world at any time and their souls that rise into some kind of paradise. It is one of my all time favorites, because it is life-affirming and flowery, while it sympathizes with the death at the same time. |
