To me, the song is about not feeling the same passionate feelings as the person you're with or you'd like to be with. I think he might be in a rut, or the effects of no-sleep are catching up to him. There are a lot of signs of depression, that he is so low that he feels like he can't move and he's in too deep into sadness: "But my hands don't work; they're more like feet" "But the text won't take away nights that creep And my mouth won't move when I'm in too deep" and "Somebody's calling me into their work Wrapped up and full of good inside their work" He recognizes that this person is in a different world of feeling good that he's not part of. And there's plenty in the song related to feeling too tired to do anything. It's sort of funny in a way where he's still trying to say, yeah baby come over for a good time, but it's more likely that she'll end up seeing the mess of his house and find him asleep. |
