Firstly, I adore this song. It's highly emotive; you can hear it in her voice. Anyway, I think the meaning is very simple: she loves this boy, however things have gone sour in the relationship. She knows he's the cause of the sadness and she knows that this relationship is doomed for failure, yet she doesn't know what to do because she still loves him and doesn't want to let him go. Her head is telling her one thing, her heart is telling her another. I love this song and I think it expresses a common sentiment in a relationship. You come so far and you can see all the warning signs, but you disregard them. Then, when you finally realize that it can't go anywhere, you've invested so much love that you don't know what to do. |
