I love donnie darko!!! I didn't watch the movie till I found out if had this song in it, even though it was a different version. I love the movie just as much as the song... I can't believe people are hating on it. A great song, both versions show you a sad side. Like said the one in the movie was sadder then the original one. Still an amazing cover. My mom likes tears for fears so she's probably heard it. I agree with pageturned99's interpretations |

I thinks it about trying to be with someone your not suppose to be with. You sneak out and try to hide your with them. There trouble you know that there dangerous but refuse to stay away. You continue to be with them rather it riskes you or anyone else you've fallen in love.
My opinion. Probably not right. But I tried. That sounds like playing with fire to me.

It's about being bullied.. It's a personal thing. I think it's actually about the members being bullied in school. "Goodnight" "we're not sleeping but it won't take long" fit with each other. If it continues maybe they'll be in a sleep forever. But you manage to make it out. But I believe it's about the actually members.
Just what I believe.. I'm obsessed with this band. All the music reaches out to me.. Well most if the newer music. I love all the songs though. Not one song I haven't heard. Great! |

I believe it kinda sounds like communism. "Speaking for a generation." But I mean, it also sounds like telling someone "give up your dream will never come true" like there putting them down, bullying them. Sounds to me like they are being told they'll never see they'll dream come true.. And they believe cause they've heard it do many times they start to believe it!

I thinks it's about someone who doesn't think there good enough. "I could never speak anyway. What you whated to hear.. I couldn't convey" everytime they spoke to someone they loved they always felt like that were making them mad, or unhappy. They couldn't understand how to make them happy. "All that it promised you doubted." Sounds like, the person actually doesn't trust them. They doubt that they'll ever to keep there promise. They fill the others head with doubt. "Forget the words that were spoken and thought erased." They fought, and it caused them to become seperated for awhile. They regret not be able to say things when they were together. And it's about the regret. |

To me it sounds like, your making yourself up to looking nice for someone but they don't pay attention to you. They'll about to give up, and leave. They finally get there attention though after attempting to kill themself. And they'll trying to talk them out of trying again. But he/she doesn't want to live if that person they love doesn't return there feelings. They've been lonely and they had a chance at love, but the other person isn't showing any affection. But the other person also has problems of there own and think that they'd only just hurt them. So they both want to see each other but don't think there good enough.

I think it's about a lover being abusive. "Two hearts beating one beats the other" he's mean to her but she just looks away from it saying 'he won't do it again' "the problems all a shade of gray" it's still hidden, the problem is staying in the shadows. "Erasing these two photograph are just a waste if your time." She sees him in the photographs and tries to forget and erase the real problem. Looking in these photos he looks nice. She wants him to stay that way and fears the worst if she tells anyone.
Really complicated me at first but I think I know it now.

I think according to the phrase "I'm just a shadow in the light you leave behind" I'm guessing somebody who is with a popular, bright sprited, shining girl. She leave a light of happiness. And the other person is just a shadow of what the other person is. They know they can't compare to that one they love. "All I need is time to change your Mind" they try to change there prospective on something. "It's not the part that your afraid to see" saying the future looks grim. They don't want to see the future that they are being led to. "No one will find you" they don't have the courage to speak up about there feelings so they will never be heard. No one will find then and help them. "I can't decide which one of us will leave here alive" that's always tricked me sounds like they're planing to get rid of the one and is debating, should they leave them alive or not. "It's always darker at the end if every answer" this shining, happy go lucky girl says dark things. Some answers being scary. They know she's not like she seems. "It's always empty in the house if every other" they feel lonely with her. They feel as if they don't belong with someone like her. She's is a rich, happy, shining, popular girl. While they're, poor, sad, dark, unpopular person. Therefore they will never last and therefor it is about a break up.
That's what i think. Really a great song. I love sleepwalking a lot through... You'd be crazy not to.. I love it took kych I blast it at full blast..

I thinks it basically about a girl who hates the world based on the bully's at school. She is bullied until she finds a girl. That tells her she could just kill them and then they won't be bothering her. Underneath the pressure she kills the bully's and the girl is telling her "now there's no one to tell you your wrong"... Or maybe even she castes a spell to make them okay dead so they'll be out of the way. But it's about bullying and a girl who basically goes crazy from all the bully's.. Cause I think he told the girl he was single and would meet with her that night. "Black tongues speak faster." She's saying he lied faster then a car could crash. She discover devious plans to cast a dark spell on him so he would die. It works and she kills him with dark magic. "Plastic blue" is saying, a false person. The lies that made her fall in love.

It about a break up.. I'm sure "I think it happend at night time" the break happend at night. It was raining and dark when it happend. "Hiding tears from street light eyes" the boy go running off after the break up, he tries to hide tears from the pepole on the streets under the street lights. "A pseudo tv love" he imagined they're love to be like on in a tv show or movie. "A mixed up a girl who's something of.. A fairytales romantic dream come true" he seen her as any mans dream fine true. "She breaks my heart and blurs my eyes. Her love is never easy." After dating her he realizes she isn't a dream come true. They get in fights and she breaks he heart, but this time it's off forever. "A magic made for tragic minds." There love was magical but it was made of tragic things. "And thinking back I should have known that she could see right though me, and I would end up on my own" after the break up he thinks back to how she could see through anything he did. He knew it wasn't going to workout. "Whispering tales of broken hearts" she whispered tales of break ups to other pepole and he thought that she could be talking about there relationship. "There was only done much words could say." He tried to say 'I love you' as much as he could but it didn't work they still broke up. He loved her but she didn't love him. "We closed our eyes and, dreamed away.." They always dreamed of good futures but it didn't turn out good.

I'm sorry about my last comment I just realize it's wrong anyways...
I do think it's about life going on after the one you love is gone. And the "deadlight holiday" the holiday,isn't lighted or bright now that they're gone. Like an anniversary,it's dead lighted now that the they aren't there to celebrate it with them. The music keeps playing and life keeps going,but it's over for your love one. You wanted to tell them something you didn't get to. Now it's too late. The memories are there but the person isn't. "There's nothing left here for us." They believe there's nothing left to live for if the one they love is gone. "In the end the secrets not worth keeping" you try to stay together knowing that they wouldn't want you to be sad, but you fall apart it's not worth faking happiness. You can tell everyone how you feel now that the anniversary has come, and it's the first time not having them there. So the day is gloomy, it's dark, the lights seemed blown for you. It's no longer a happy day cause you can't spend it with the one you love.
That's what I think. This song is sad. It's the saddest song by them. But it's the most beautiful one. I love it!

To me it sounds like a controlling boyfriend. "He watches her while she's sleeping" "He wants to know every secret she keeps" he assumes she wants to leave so he tries to contr things by trying to make her stay. He lets it get the best of him and he begins to be kinda mean to her. "She watches him while he's leaving" he's going to work, and she imagines losing him and don't want to leave him cause she loves him, but something about him has changed. "She fabricates another reason to stay." She tries to think of reasons why leaving would be a bad idea. Then she tries and tries to find the hood but can't as he gets more paranoid, she starts to get paranoid about him leaving. What if one another was cheating. They both get suspicions of each other. They know it won't last. But they try to pretend like it will. "Sometimes the beauty starts to die when it's over" the relationship is over and now the beauty is starting to die. The affection is fading, the beauty, the love, the closeness. "Torture yourself by asking why, but it's over." They keep asking themselves why it's not working out. They start to blame themselves but don't know who did the wrong. Really it's just a love ruined by suspicion, or cheating. They can't find there love anymore so before the break up. It's over. Before it's offically over. They know it's over.

I thinks it's about a lier. Falling from grace. Everyone loved him/her, but what they loved was all a lie. No one loved him/her anymore. They make up a world of lies that made everyone happy, but when the lies fall apart, the person falls out and falls down. Falling done to me sounds basically like the mistakes you made. You can't take them back. You can't untell a lie. "Your kind, are only good for bad behavior" your kind, liers. Are only act good when they're. At first I thought it was about, depression, or cutting. "How can I pretend that I don't see" "i saw her bleed" you don't what to do when you find out that stuff you can live it down. It doesn't go away that someone you love is doing that. But after a while it started to sound like, Witnessing a murder. Or something bad happening. You survive cause you mange to hide and escape. "No, I must be dreaming" sounds like, shock or not believing that the person is gone. Maybe you know that person. I was confused at first but I think it is about witnessing something traumatizing.

And her friend etiher are ghost or she really didn't remover clearly but she can only think they said something. She was told not to forget that day. Making an path to no tell about what happend.
I'm bad at guessing, but I think her friends were ghost that before they disappeared or died they talked to her. Maybe they were killed at the birthday party.

Is saying the lovers heart is broken they believe their lover is cheating. There letting there suspicion get in the way rather it's true or not. The other lover had been out cheating thats where they've been. "And loves what they wasted.." Is saying the cheater is wasting their love away. They lie so they can have both their lovers, but the suspicion is catching up with the cheater.

I think,I'm not sure but, to me this song sounds like rainbows point of view on tour. There in a place there never see again or be there for a long time. Also on a street they've never seen before. to me the line "I was never here. Just a faint reflection" sounds like him standing back out of the light in the back as someone that is only just there. Also the line "a second of affection" sounds to me like. Everyone giving him a second of affection and move on to the next band member to see as he stands back and watchs. That's just what I think. |

The song is definitely about chibi. Hiding her emotions and saddness and holding it in. But when it came out, it came rushing out. Once her feelings were free they couldn't be locked up again.
