| Sara Bareilles – Bright Lights and Cityscapes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This well written, beautifully melodic song touched me in ways I can't really explain. Sara describes a boy she's in love with. This boy keeps going back to a gorgeous girl who continues to cheat and mess with him, and Sara is begging him not to continue doing this. The way this was written made the lyrics seem non-selfish; as if she really did care about HIM as a person, not just HIM as her boyfriend. "all those demons are closing in, and I don't want you to be burn-nevermind what I said before, I don't want any less anymore." She's contemplating throughout the song. |

| Sara Bareilles – Manhattan Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song's meaning to me was basically a sophisticated way of saying "I'm giving up on this." She talks about the beauties of Manhattan, and how he can have it all, so maybe she's talking about Manhattan as another girl. However, it is more likely that they are slowly sliding away from eachother ("you can have Manhattan, I'll settle for the beach"). "Holding us in place is simply fear of what's already changed". The only reason they're still together is because they are scared it's going to get worse than it already is, and they don't want to hurt eachother. This is Sara giving it all up, setting him free. |

| Sara Bareilles – 1000 Times Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song could be interpreted as love gone sour. When you love someone to a certain extent of always coming back, the relationship becomes unhealthy, and I feel like Sara was trying to portray that feeling in her song. She discusses "waiting forever" and being "pushed away", but says she will come back 1000 times. An experience like this has to be painful, and she sings this thought in a desperate way. | |
