Crystal Castles – Not in Love Lyrics 12 years ago
Despite the title, I can't help thinking the protagonist of the song is hopelessly in love. Perhaps it's because of the passionate, thumping, desperate rythm. I'd imagine a song about falling out of love to be way colder, but this song is so feel of emotions and feelings. "Won't give you my heart/No one lives there anymore" may suggest the protagonist has been deeply hurt by the person he loves, that's why he's trying to distance himself from them. The refrain, repeated like a mantra, represents well the will of the man to stop loving someone who's hurting him.

Crystal Castles – Untrust Us Lyrics 12 years ago
This song deals with unhappiness, loss, despair, anguish, confusion. It describes that time in our lives when we feel lost, when everything looks evil and distorted, like we were in a tunnel of evil. "La cocaina" is what is destroying us. Pain, suffering, thoughts, love, alcohol, drugs.

Florence + the Machine – Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics 12 years ago
The protagonist of the song is a girl who loves too much. "My arms around his neck/My fingers laced to crown": this part shows that she's clinging desperately to him. She can't let him go.

She's "heavy". Obviously this is a metaphore. So, what does this "heaviness" mean in the song? I think it means she's troubled by several emotional problems. Perhaps even mental problems. Like I've said before, she can't let him. But if someone never leaves you alone, then they become a burden, they become *heavy*. So I think she's obsessing over her beloved one. Her love is so deep it has become venom and it's poisoning both her and her lover. It's carrying them down like "an iron ball". She knows the way she's living her love is bad, as we can see in this passage: "This will be my last confession/"I love you" never felt like any blessing/Oh, whispering like it's a secret". She's feeling guilty, she knows she's ruining her relationship with the guy.

Now, the guy. I don't think this song is about an unrequieted love, In fact I'm quite sure he loves her. When she says "Are you strong enough to stand/Protecting both your heart and mine?" it seems to me like the guy cares about her and he's willing to help her. "I was a heavy heart to carry/But he never let me down/When he had me in his arms/My feet never touched the ground" these lines tell us the guy never left her. Which is in contradiction with the initial lines "And he took me to the river/Where he slowly let me drown". I think these last lines mean he can give her life and death, because her happiness is totally dependant on him. So, when she says he's drowning her, it means he's making her so unhappy she's feeling dead.

I must confess I don't understand the part about the betrayer and the killer in the crowd. But the rest of the song looks quite clear to me. I hope some of you may appreciate my interpretation (:
