| The Who – Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| You're absolutely right, Tessie: The actual line is: "And the parting on the left, is now a parting on the right." It's about men's hairstyles. The meaning being that change between one guy with a parting (on the left) and the next guy with a parting (on the right) is so limited as to be almost imperceptible. Hence the next line: "And the beards have got no longer overnight" (also quoted slightly wrongly in the lyrics given). Absurdly, the song has been described as "The most conservative rock song of all time" (http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/217709/1-michael-long). Evidently, the person doing the describing didn't understand the lyrics. The song is not conservative at all. On the contrary, it is progressive. The singer WANTS CHANGE, but he is ultimately disillusioned with politics and the lack of real change in the wake of the revolution. | |
