Porcupine Tree – Glass Arm Shattering Lyrics 12 years ago
its about a person who has come to a point in his life where he realizes his feelings. Not only the realization but also the acceptance of his emotions. The feelings that he kept bottled up even from himself. Feelings, that he never really acknowledged, never faced now are touching him. The line that confuses me most is"Feeling are you blind?". this one does make the song a bit sad. It seems like a person is hurt and he has been trying real hard to keep away from his feelings.Trying not to confront them but he's not succeeding..
Well i like to think this song is about confrontation and acceptance of one's emotions. The shattering of glass symbolizes the breaking of the bottle, the one in which the feelings were kept. kept away from him. There can be many reasons for this segregation of emotions. Why he kept himself divorced from those feelings. I have always loved this particular thing about PT. They never make any song that is too particular or specific about an incident, it allows you to have your own perception of the song. And this one is simply beautiful. The person now feels all his emotions. He feels the love. Its about acknowledgement of his emotions and breaking off the dissolution from feelings ...Confronting himself now!!

Porcupine Tree – Black Dahlia Lyrics 12 years ago
This song was one of the few last songs that i heard from the album 'THE INCIDENT'. This album to me is like a journey or more like the description of a lifetime of a person. Music does the justification with all the incidents and events that took place on the run and it has been very beautifully portrayed.
BLACK DAHLIA….still not sure why the name but from what i can hear from the song it is that he is warning you against something that you are about to put your faith on. And i guess it’s not just faith but something more because he talks about how you have lost all your interest in the past when you arrived at this point. How you are ready to give yourself and your trust to something that has nothing in it for you. Well you can relate it with whatever emotion or incident you want ...that’s the beauty of PT they don’t generalize the human emotions but they allow us to make and have our own interpretation!!
For me i like to think he's talking about love. How people forget their self, their past and future when they fall in love. or may be its the start of falling in love which suits most in these lines….the kind of love that is one sided for now. He warns you that there is nothing for you that would be good for you in this. All things that you could possibly imagine have already been done and so you can bring nothing new to the picture. He says to put your faith on any place but this…
“You stole the only thing you love
So unfaithful…..”
Sometimes you start loving someone so deeply that you forget the most important thing…YOURSELF. I read it somewhere “It’s impossible to love someone else without loving yourself”….well sometimes you are so lost in loving the other person that you forget about yourself. It can be fatal for blinded in love you would not mind doing something for the sake of love that may harm you and so it’s dangerous. Love is beautiful, I know but only when you respect it but love has no limits, love knows no bounds and sometimes people cross that boundary without even noticing it. Love can be dangerous believe me…..
Well so much from a novice in love and lyrical interpretation….YOUR TRUTH IS YOURS TO DECIDE!!!!

Anathema – Restless Oblivion Lyrics 12 years ago
"Restless oblivion". the title itself says it all.
the person has lost his female lover (inamorata) or the love in his female companion is lost and he is trying to deal with the pain and emptiness that comes with that.
One last goodbye was the first song that i heard of Anathema. beautiful track indeed but this one...its like stuck in my head the moment i heard it for the first time. the song has one of the catchiest bass i have ever heard...from the intro to the end it never looses its charm. and the way the song progresses is quite amazing and u can feel the waves emotions rising and falling from your heart. after listening to the melodious and yet painful 'one last goodbye' the growl in this song takes it to the next level.
the grief is so overwhelming that the person feels like discouraged and broken even crying is not helping. he talks about immortality of life without love which is now condemned to misery . i guess oblivion here means the extinction...the departing of his love and its heartbreaking. this event was so devastating that he feels desecrated. his dreams and aspirations stamped out so bad that he feels defeated...vanquished. the respect that he had for himself and others dies with his love and its a bleak garden to cry
well dont go too deep into the lyrics try to enjoy the progression and transitions in the song its one my favourites from the band.
PS: tis my first writing about any song i hope i did the judgement with the song..if not at least i tried!!
